- Perform security guard duties in accordance with appropriate regulations to detect and prevent theft, damage, accident, trespass, sabotage and espionage.
- Enforce the security regulations of the installation.
- Control access of vehicles and pedestrians to installation.
- Verify identification through use of identification cards, badges, biometrics automated records, verbal questioning, and other means.
- Admit persons, denies entry or arranges for escorts, as appropriate.
- Conduct vehicle searches and inspections.
- Conduct foot or vehicle patrol of perimeters, roadways, parking and other high traffic areas.
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
- Shift work is required, or a change in work shift may be necessary. Hours of work encompass fluctuating tours of duty to include evenings, nights, weekends and holidays.
- Position may be designated as Mission Essential depending on location.
- Overtime may be required as directed and is subject to recall for periods of emergency overtime.
- Incumbent must undergo and pass annual medical exams of physical, emotional and mental stability.
- In accordance with Army Regulation (AR) 190-56, must meet the requirements of Individual Reliability Program.
- This is a drug testing designated position. Incumbent agrees to submit to a mandatory command directed urinalysis on a recurring basis.
- Incumbent is required to maintain physical conditioning and pass an annual Physical Agility Test (PAT) as outlined in AR 190-56.
- Incumbent must be proficient in the use of assigned firearms/weapons, pass an initial qualification, and must qualify semi-annually thereafter in the use of assigned firearms/weapons.
- Incumbent must successfully complete security guard training.
- Incumbent must successfully complete and maintain current required certifications in CPR techniques and First Aid. May act as a first responder in a medical emergency.
- Incumbent must be able to obtain and sustain state certification for operating the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) terminals.
- Incumbent must obtain and maintain applicable certifications in operating various electronic equipment and sensors.
- Incumbent must wear the prescribed Department of Army Security Guard (DASG) uniform IAW AR 190-56; must maintain a high state of appearance and hygiene.
- The duties and training require for the employee to carry and deploy a riot baton, carry a protective shield and employ non-lethal ammunitions if necessary.
- Incumbent is required to wear chemical protection masks, gloves, and other protective equipment, and may be required to be certified in the use of aerosol irritants and baton.
- Incumbent must not have any medical condition that precludes the wearing of a chemical protective mask and over garments.
- Incumbent must be fully qualified to operate a government vehicle. Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license.
- Incumbent must meet the requirements under the Lautenberg Amendment/Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Working with a Federal, State, municipal, local, or private protective organization that involved the protection of property against such hazards as fire, theft, damage, accident, or trespass; or 2) Maintaining order and protecting life. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).
Such experience must have provided a knowledge of protective systems and techniques. Acceptable experience includes service in the Armed Services or Coast Guard that involved the performance of guard duties on a regular or intermittent basis.About the company
