Job Description

- Directly supervises a shift of Security Officers.
- Ensures that Security Officers are on post and are meeting both job description and post requirements.
- Always acts as the charge officer at any location, and reports problematic situations to the Lieutenant/Assistant Director.
- Has the principal responsibility to provide a formal method of communicating conduct problems to management consistent with established rules of conduct.
- Performs on-going coaching and counseling of officers in order to ensure officers are meeting expectations of the department and hospital.
- Prepares daily security assignments.
- Projects in advance security assignments for assigned shift in order to provide optimum security coverage.
- Gives proper relief to security personnel, and ensures timely return from personal and/or lunch breaks.
- Assesses impact and approves scheduling of PPL time.
- Reviews incident reports.
- Ensures that officers prepare a security incident report for all security complaints and incidents, and that the written record is submitted before the end of the shift.
- Reviews all incident reports prepared by officers on shift for completeness and accuracy.
- Returns any report to officer that is not consistent with general reporting standards.
- Gives guidance with written reports when necessary, and fosters an orderly and efficient use of all written reports.
- Reviews and approves staff time and attendance.
- Reviews daily time and attendance records for accuracy
- Maintains records of staff attendance.
- Monitors and schedules use of officers' PPL time.
- Makes unscheduled checks of patient areas.
- Periodically checks patient care areas for security violations, unauthorized persons and dangerous conditions.
- Reports any security concerns from respected shift in writing to the Lieutenant/Assistant Director.
- Ensures that security clock tours are performed daily, and reports any malfunction of clock and/or tour station.
- High School Diploma / GED Required
- Bachelor's Degree Criminal Justice or Management Preferred
- PA Act 235 - Pennsylvania State Police - upon hire - Required
- Driver's License - - upon hire - Required

A Brief Overview
As designated by the Lieutenant, monitors the work performance of shift security officers at various locations in the hospital. Regularly reviews with the Lieutenant the performance of officers, and effectiveness of current posts so as to provide maximum effectiveness of current posts so as to provide maximum efficiency and utilization of resources. Must be available to work all shifts and must be able to rotate between shifts in accordance with organizational needs.
