SEMCO - Laborer (Port Huron)

Bargaining Unit/ Local: Utility Workers of America Local 473
Location: Port Huron, MI
Rate Classification/Pay Range: $24.87 per hour
Number of Available Positions: One (1) Full-Time Position

Tasks and Responsibilities

• Operate a company vehicle and be responsible for inventory, maintenance, and safe operation.

• Obtain and maintain a commercial driver’s license.

• Comply with standard safety precautions necessary to ensure the safety of others and prevent lost-time accidents.

• Perform minor painting, cleaning of vehicles, and janitorial duties.

• Operate and perform minor maintenance of power equipment for lawn care and snow removal.

• May be required to work in another department as needed.

• Interact with peers, internal teams, and external customers in a positive and professional manner.

• Other general responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications, Skills, and Abilities

• High School Diploma or GED required.

• Possess a valid driver’s license as determined by the Company. Must be able to obtain a CDL license and be qualified to operate a vehicle under the company's Safe Driving Policy.

• Analytical and organizational skills.

• Excellent written and oral communication skills.

• Customer service orientation.

• Possess the necessary physical abilities to perform the various job duties.

• Ability to write legibly; operate a personal computer satisfactorily.

Physical Requirements

Must be able to walk at least 10 miles per day in all weather conditions. Must be able to sit, stand, stoop, bend, crawl, kneel, walk, climb, push, pull, lift and carry 20-50 lbs., twist, reach above and below shoulder levels, and perform fine finger movements. Must be able to work in climates of extreme cold/extreme heat. Potential exposure to stinging insects/insecticides and possible requirement to be in the Respirator Program.
