- Leading a small team with expertise in land access, cultural heritage, Native Title, agreements, community engagement and field operations
- Developing and implementing land access strategies and related processes that support exploration project work
- Inform CSP inputs in to various management plans and approvals processes
- Leading negotiations of land access, heritage and native title agreements
- Ensuring legislative requirements in relation to exploration, mining and native title aspects of law are managed
- Building a strong rapport and effective relationships with Traditional Owners, representative bodies, consultants, neighbours, community and internal/external stakeholder groups
- Conducting compliance activities relating to Communities & Social Performance standards, access agreements, heritage and other commitments.
- Implementing heritage survey programs working with Traditional Owner groups and heritage specialists
- Managing implementation of and contractual obligations under existing agreements
- Working collaboratively towards the resolution of concerns/issues/disputes raised by landholders
- Supporting the delivery of strategy, policy and standards development associated with the Communities & Social Performance area.
- Significant experience working in the mining or exploration industry in Communities and Social Performance, Land Access or Cultural Heritage; or ability to demonstrate relevant experience
- Excellent communication and engagement skills
- An excellent understanding of land access legislation and experience developing and implementing land access strategies
- Demonstrated experience in cultural heritage and native title matters including a good knowledge of Native Title legislation
- Experience negotiating land access and heritage agreements and other related skills
- A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
- Experience in remote field work including exposure to heritage surveys
- Proven ability to work positively and in partnership with Traditional Owner groups, Pastoralists and other community stakeholders
- Ability to build strong working relationships across a large business
- Experience in delivering outcomes against deadlines and reaching goals
- Strong commercial acumen

SENIOR ADVISOR COMMUNITIES & SOCIAL PERFORMANCE (EXPLORATION LAND ACCESS & CULTURAL HERITAGE)
About the role

We are looking for a Senior Advisor Communities & Social Performance to support the business in developing and implementing land access and heritage strategies and processes for exploration project work. You will work closely with community stakeholders including Traditional Owners and Pastoral Land Holders working across Western Australia and more broadly across Australasia.
This is a great opportunity for a Communities and Social Performance and Land Access professional to lead a small team with a broad scope and great variety. You will be responsible for Land Access and CSP priorities primarily for Western Australia, but will gain exposure to initiatives in Queensland, South Australia, the Northern Territory and parts of the Asia Pacific Region.
The work of the role includes ensuring Rio Tinto’s CSP requirements are met when conducting Exploration activities, coordinating land access and agreement making requirements, cultural heritage surveys and developing strategies for small and large scale exploration activities. This role will be based in Perth. Travel will be required as part of your duties.
