- Leads the development, maintenance, and proper usage of internal audit templates, procedures, and work papers.
- Plans and performs 1-3 internal desk and/or onsite audits annually.
- Supports 1-3 internal audits annually, including performing and documenting test work, and reviewing audit reports.
- Assists with monitoring country office remediation plans.
- Assists the Senior Audit Manager with remediation plans for on-site and external audits.
- Supports internal ethics-related investigations and crisis response efforts, as necessary.
- Manages the annual HQ audit process and coordinates year-round preparation projects.
- Provides support for funder audits/reviews and local government audits, as needed.
- Acts the point of contact between the country office staff and external auditors.
- As part of the audit support or management tracks, collects, and reviews documentation for sharing with external auditors.
- Assists with drafting management responses to auditors, as needed.
- Supports the Senior Audit Manager to ensure that branch office practices are aligned with Internews' policies and procedures.
- Oversees monthly voucher sample selections for all country offices.
- Files and organizes financial records to support various audits.
- In coordination with the Senior Audit Manager, leads training and provides guidance for new Audit Department staff and other staff requiring training in functions impacting audit.
- As part of a team, identifies any new/emerging risks and reports them to appropriate managers.
- Supports the development and implementation of risk management procedures and training as needed.

- Requires some availability for meetings outside of normal working hours.
- Domestic and international travel required up to 15% per year.
- University degree, with business or accounting emphasis preferred, or equivalent lived/professional experience.
- Minium of 7 years of previous related audit, accounting, or bookkeeping experience required, including at least 2 years' experience in leading audits, preferably in a fund accounting organization.
- Intermediate expertise in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Ability to interpret, summarize, and apply technical standards and policy language.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Proven ability to set priorities and manage time effectively.
- Proven analytical and problem-solving ability.
- Proven ability to work both independently and as an effective team member.
- Proven ability to prioritize and handle multiple ongoing assignments.
ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
Under the supervision of the Senior Audit Manager, the Senior Audit Analyst is responsible for providing both internal and external audit management support. Primary objectives include assisting the Audit department in the timely completion of the internal audit plan, acting as a point of contact or providing support for ad hoc external audits and reviews, and offering feedback, trainings, and administrative support to help Internews maintain a high standard of audit readiness. The Senior Audit Analyst will also take the lead in development, improvement, and implementation of internal audit templates, procedures, and workpapers, informed by current internal audit guidelines and best practices.
LOGISTICS
Internews has US offices in Arcata, CA and Washington, DC which support a hybrid workforce with staff working remotely, fully in-office, or partially remote. This is a remote based role, and candidates based anywhere in the United States will be considered.

The annual salary range for this position is US $80,800 - US $105,100.
