      Job Summary

      As a Business Analyst/Data Analyst you will be part of a diverse team of Software Developers, Machine Learning Engineers, Data Engineers, Data Analysts and Business Analysts. You will be responsible and contribute to designing, building, evaluating, delivering, and maintaining NAV CANADA’s advanced analytics and artificial intelligence product line. You will act as a subject matter expert (SME) and will participate in planning, organizing, and providing functional leadership in the business process analysis, data analysis, requirements, development, acquisition, configuration, enhancements, and implementation, of transformative advanced analytics and artificial intelligence products.

      Through collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, you will provide leadership to support enhancements and technology roadmaps for applications, infrastructure, and services. You will support clients and our products to ensure we deliver valuable customer experiences and business benefits.

      Key Accountabilities:

      • Participates and provides functional leadership in the development of initiatives, and assists in the formulation of innovative forward-thinking strategies, plans, and product roadmaps to advance business needs in a cost-effective manner.
      • Provides functional leadership of, and contributes to, the work involved to develop detailed requirements, functional specifications, test plans and application configurations. Lead and/or collaborate with change and project teams engaged in the design/development of applications, infrastructure, and system integration of technology solutions.
      • Provides functional leadership of, and contributes to, the work involved to develop the business process definition, including eliciting current state processes, analysis of the current business environment and facilitating the definition of future state processes and recommendations that are valid, traceable, and justifiable.
      • Contributes to planning activities, providing clear estimations and timelines for when activities and commitment dates will be met.
      • Conducts data analysis, develops product key performance indicators, and assess the business, technical and economic viability, and practicality of solutions in meeting client requirements.
      • Act as a functional/technical coach/mentor, guiding and developing junior team members and recommend training to support their development.
      • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and industry partners on the application of machine learning and artificial intelligence product development in aviation.

      Job Requirements

      Education:

      • Graduated from a recognized university or college with a degree/certification in Engineering, Computer Sciences/Information Technology, Business Administration, MBA and/or Aviation and at least 5 years related experience OR an acceptable combination of education, related experience and training.

      Experience:

      • 5+ years leading and participating in requirement management, data and systems analysis, development and testing of complex and integrated products/systems.
      • 5+ years contributing to planning activities, providing clear estimations and timelines for when activities and commitment dates will be met.
      • 5+ years delivering test strategies, test plans and test cases.
      • 5+ years using cloud platforms, preferably in Azure, using Azure DevOps, Azure Data Lake Storage, Azure App Services, Azure Databricks, Azure Data Explorer, etc.
      • 5+ years writing advanced SQL queries, working with database technologies tools such as Microsoft SQL Server.
      • Experience with agile product delivery and Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery using Azure DevOps or a similar tool.
      • Experience working as a Scrum Facilitator is considered an asset.
      • Experience with programming languages: Python, R, Scala and experience with spatial data is considered an asset.

      Knowledge:

      • Knowledge of industry trends, developments and business policies, processes, workflows, and systems in functional area of specialization.
      • Knowledge of business analysis methodologies, practices, tools, and techniques
      • Knowledge of Azure DevOps, Azure App Services, Azure Databricks, etc.
      • Knowledge of traditional and agile software development methodologies, formal testing processes, product acceptance, and lifecycle management.
      • Knowledge of project management processes and procedures.
      • Knowledge of the aviation industry and Canada’s Air Navigation System is an asset.

      Abilities:

      • Ability to identify, analyze and specify business processes and requirements and determining how these can best be met within the limitations of time, budget, and team resources.
      • Ability to test, detect, analyze system deficiencies, and recommend system remediation and/or new actions/process improvements.
      • Ability to deliver results and make well advised trade-offs between idealistic approaches and product impact.
      • Ability to communicate clearly, verbally, visually, and in writing with internal and external stakeholders.
      • Ability to write clear, cohesive, and concise documentation that is easily understandable by colleagues, management, stakeholders, and customers.
      • Ability to lead, take on a role as a strategic technical advisor, guide, and mentor team.
      • Ability to manage and prioritize work across multiple projects.

      Working conditions:

      • This position is based at Ottawa Head Office but may be eligible for a flexible work arrangement.
      • Domestic travel will be required one or twice a quarter.
