      Job summary

      We have a great opportunity at North Street Medical Care for a Senior Clinical Coder. We are looking for someone with at least two- years experience in clinical coding in a GP surgery. Clinical coding knowledge is essential.

      You will oversee the coding team and work load. To ensure discharge box is monitored on a daily basis. To be responsible for the read-coding of relevant information into the patients electronic healthcare records on EMIS clinical system, adhering to the practice coding policy. In addition, the post-holder will also support the multi-disciplinary team, providing administrative support as required, in line with the needs of the practice. The post holder will communicate with clinicians to ensure coding audits are performed and work load is at an acceptable level as per our KPI.

      The position is for 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday 9 am - 5 pm. We will consider part time, but not less than 32 hours per week over 5 days.

      You would be part of an excellent team and be responsible for the coding of relevant information into the patients electronic healthcare records on EMIS Web clinical system, adhering to the practice coding policy. In addition, the post-holder will also support the multi-disciplinary team, providing administrative support as required, in line with the needs of the practice.

      Main duties of the job

      The following are the core responsibilities of the clinical coder:

      a. Responsible for organising and recording monthly scanning audits with relevant clinician(s)

      b. Overlook and manage work-load

      c. Update and maintain coding policy and train the team on updates

      d. Attend clinical meetings as and when required

      e. Lead in coding scanning monthly meetings

      f. Accurately scanning and coding of clinical documents in the patient record and work-flowing documents to relevant clinicians using the scanning protocol.

      g. Identifying relevant clinical information documented in patient correspondence, coding appropriately and completing any detailed actions

      h. File and store records as required

      i. Action all incoming post, emails from the discharge summary inbox in a timely manner

      j. Answer incoming phone calls, transferring calls or dealing with the callers request appropriately

      k. Filing of all unmatched pathology and documents as priority

      l. Dealing with all urgent emails and documents as priority

      m. Review and update the practice coding policy as required (in conjunction with the Deputy Practice Manager)

      n. Monitoring the number of incoming documents in the discharge summary inbox on a daily basis

      o. Maintain a clean, tidy, effective working area at all times

      p. Support all clinical staff with general administrative tasks as requested
