- Day to day care of patients on the Children's Unit and Neonatal Unit as well as covering the Central Delivery Suite and post-natal Ward.
- Maintenance of patient's records and generation of timely Discharge Summaries
- Participation in Consultant-led ward rounds undertaken by the Paediatric Team
- Emergency care of patients in the paediatric assessment unit and the emergency department
- Full GMC registration with a licence to practise at time of appointment
- Medical Degree from a recognised university
- MBBS or recognised equivalent qualification
- APLS certified/ in date (or equivalent)
- NLS certified / in date (or equivalent)
- Post Graduate Qualification in Paediatrics
- Minimum of 2-years' experience in Specialty
- Completion of at least four years full-time postgraduate training (or its equivalent gained on a part-time or flexible basis) at least two of which in a specialty training program in a relevant specialty or as a fixed term specialty trainee in a relevant specialty; or shall have equivalent experience and competencies.
- Evidence of achievement appropriate to ST3 level or higher
- Knowledge of the audit process
- A wide range of clinical skills and practice in the specialty
- Previous experience of working in the NHS or comparable health service in a medical capacity
- Some experience of acute/non acute Paediatrics e.g. child protection, child development
- Experience of working as a Senior Decision Maker
- Ability to supervise colleagues including those at SHO and Registrar level.

Job summary
The Royal Lancaster Infirmary are looking for a Senior Clinical Fellow in Paediatrics to join our team for a period of 6 months.
The post is based in the Paediatric Department at Royal Lancaster Hospital and you will be part of a team delivering day to day care of patients on the Children's Ward and Level 2 Neonatal Unit.
You will be required to participate in the 1:8 resident second on-call rota which includes night duties, day shifts and weekends.
Main duties of the job
You will work as a member of a team of middle grade doctors working a full shift system.
The clinical duties of the post include the following:
You will be encouraged to actively participate in audit / research / training within the team
You will be encouraged to contribute to the teaching programme of the junior doctors and will help to protect their teaching time during allocated teaching sessions.
About us
We operate from three main hospitals-Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.
FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.
WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.
All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, daycase and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.
