      SENIOR COMPLETIONS ENGINEER

      The Chief Operations Engineering team is seeking a Senior Completions Engineer to be part of the Completions team. Reporting to the Manager, Completions, you will be a key team member that will assist completion engineers in well and completion design, including frac pump schedules and frac modeling using Gohfer and/or ResFrac. This role will also provide completion engineering support to asset teams by performing lookbacks, frac hydraulics analysis, coil tubing modeling, and other completion performance evaluations/studies.

      Responsibilities

      • Monitor all aspects of well completion operations and bring forward innovation solutions to improve operational efficiency or increase well inflow performance.

      • Perform engineering studies with multiple disciplines to improve completion operational performance.

      • Provide completion engineering technical support to our operations teams.

      • Evaluate completions operations: investigate, diagnose and mitigate NPT and inefficiency.

      • Apply casing and well design skills; possess competency in well design software.

      • Provide field support during high profile operations and provide relief supervision as needed.

      • Perform post-analyses of executed jobs and benchmark the results.

      • Work with service companies to develop “fit-for-purpose” technology that is engineered specific to Ovintiv program needs.

      • Ensure completion programs, program amendments and operational SOPs are adequately risk-assessed.

      • Mentor engineers, assess training needs and coordinate industry training.

      Required Qualifications

      • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, preferably petroleum engineering.

      • 8 or more years of experience as a completions, production or drilling engineer.

      • Hydraulic frac modeling experience and understanding.

      • Torque and drag, and wireline modeling experience.

      • Experience creating a completion design for an oil or gas well.

      • Experience in frac optimization related to resource play completions.

      • Demonstrated experience working with multi-disciplinary teams.

      • Willingness and ability to travel to field locations as needed.

      • Must be legally entitled to work in the USA.

      In accordance with applicable law, the following represents Ovintiv's reasonable estimate of the hiring compensation range for this role.

      HIRING SALARY RANGE: $175,000 - $240,000 USD

      Compensation may vary and will be determined by the geographic location, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
