      The Denver Public Library (DPL) is a growing urban library system that serves the City & County of Denver.       ABOUT OUR TEAM

      The Strategy & Evaluation Department is a dynamic group of forward-thinking public servants responsible for the Library’s data infrastructure, strategic planning and program evaluation. We provide tools for strategic decision-making and turn data into insights - enabling our colleagues to address changing community needs by shifting resources, identifying efficiencies and reimagining library services. Our team office is located at the Central Library in downtown Denver and operates under a hybrid work schedule; however, the nature of work is system-wide and often benefits from onsite meetings at DPL branch locations across the City.

      ABOUT THE JOB

      The Data Analytics Senior is the steward of the library’s vast data infrastructure and is responsible for governance and prioritization of data assets; this role is also the subject matter expert on strategic analysis of library staffing, spaces and services. This position will report directly to the Manager of Strategy & Evaluation and will work with the data and evaluation team cross-functionally; while this role is not be responsible for any supervision, the Data Analytics Senior will serve on the department’s leadership team and support the direction and growth of the library’s strategic management infrastructure.

      Specifically, this team member will:

      • Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. Leverage data and analytics to advance equitable access to the library’s collections, spaces and technology.

      • Evaluate the impact of policy decisions on the library through the sophisticated analysis of existing data or the methodological collection of new data assets; create executive and governing body reports to communicate findings and recommendations.

      • Develop complex and accurate data models and assist in forecasting departmental metrics to inform strategic organizational decisions and resource allocation; emphasizing equity in service delivery.

      • Design and steward the library’s data governance policies to ensure compliance with state and federal user record laws, identifying creative methods of understanding the customer-base without jeopardizing individual privacy.

      • Leverage applied and descriptive statistical techniques to develop decision-making frameworks to evaluate policies and practices, test hypothesis, evaluate risk and develop recommendations for operational, financial and managerial projects.

      • Sustain and enhance the library’s data culture, building data literacy and management standards and create systems of accountability for the equitable use of data in decisionmaking.

      • Proactively identify opportunities to leverage data to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of library operations and reduce risk in existing and emergent policy areas.

      • Lead cross-functional and interagency projects to enhance the use of quantitative and qualitative data in service design, programmatic evaluation, policy creation and organizational management

      We’re looking for someone who exercises humble inquiry, leads through influence and has some or all of the following skills and experiences:

      • Advanced Data Science and Data Modeling experience

      • Mastery of Excel for data mining, cleaning and business intelligence

      • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and deliver on multiple competing priorities

      • Advanced knowledge of the intersection of data architecture and analysis

      using tools such as: PowerBi, SQL, Python, R and GIS

      • Strong command of mathematical modeling and applied statistics

      • Experience conducting complex data analytics in a public library or cultural

      institution environment

      • Education Requirement: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Statistics, Actuarial Science, Business Administration, or other related field such as social sciences.

      • Experience Requirement: Three (3) years of data analytics experience.

      • Education/Experience Equivalency: One (1) year of the appropriate type and level of experience may be substituted for each required year of post-high school education. Additional appropriate education may be substituted for experience requirements.

      • Licensures/Certification(s): None
