Develop models and machine learning applications in Python alongside our Data Engineers (who build the data pipelines and ensure quality)
Deliver production Machine Learning models across the full reach of the Insurance Pensions & investments business - from predicting Pension balances to identifying which of our customers may fall into financial difficulty and need a helping hand, along with other diverse use cases
Collaborate in multidisciplinary squads, regularly communicating key findings to our business partners
Previous experience of developing and deploying AI and ML models
Strong theoretical and applied knowledge of Statistical Modelling and Machine Learning techniques such as regression, clustering, attribution (econometrics / MMM), decision trees and gradient boosting machines (random forest, XGBoost, LGBM) and significance testing
A good working knowledge of the latest NLP and LLM techniques
Advanced skills in Python and SQL for data science, including how to write modular Pythonic code, familiarity with the core Python data structures and fluency with pandas and other packages commonly used for data science; a familiarity with unit testing would be beneficial
Advanced skills in working with different structured and unstructured data types and carrying out careful data preparation and descriptive analysis in support of machine learning
The ability to take subject matter knowledge (your own or that of colleagues) and incorporate it into feature selection and engineering and the hypotheses that models are allowed to test
The ability to present the takeaways from data science techniques in a clear, visual manner to support senior business partners’ decision making
Experience implementing and supporting Machine Learning systems including automating data validation, model training, model validation and model monitoring would also be very useful

WORKING PATTERN: Hybrid, 40% (or two days) at our Leeds, Edinburgh or Bristol locations.
