      About the role:

      Morningstar seeks a Senior DevOps Engineer with extensive automation and programming experience throughout the software development lifecycle (SDLC), servicing multiple teams or organizations. The role involves deep technical expertise to solve cloud-based solutions at scale. As a DevOps Engineer, you will have the opportunity to work on complex challenges and collaborate with the development and IT operations – leading to greater visibility for business teams and, ultimately, more revenue. The role focuses on refining feedback loops and enhancing communication between IT and developers, facilitating the swift development of observable systems that deliver tangible customer value.

      This is a hybrid role based in our Chicago office.

      Job responsibilities:

      • Responsible for creating and implementing system enhancements that will improve the performance and reliability of the system.
      • Good understanding of DB transactions, backup & restore procedures, including masking PII data.
      • Experience with PostgreSQL - monitoring & patching DB systems, planning high availability clusters (such as AWS Aurora).
      • Own deployment, availability, reliability, and performance of the systems.
      • Proactively identify and reduce issues by designing, testing, and implementing software-based solutions.
      • Contribute strongly to developing platform services, including architecture, provisioning, configuration, deployment, and support.

      Qualifications:

      • Bachelor's degree with 5+ years of DevOps Experience.
      • Strong scripting or programming skills for automating repetitive tasks.
      • DevOps (CI/CD, Docker and Terraform) Experience.
      • Experience architecting and automating cloud-native technologies, deploying applications, and provisioning infrastructure.
      • Hands-on Experience with Infrastructure as Code, using CloudFormation, Terraform, or other tools.
      • Experience architecting cloud native CI/CD workflows and tools, such as Code Deploy (AWS), and/or Harness.
      • Hands-on Experience with microservices and distributed application architecture, such as containers and/or serverless technology.
      • Good Debugging and troubleshooting skills.
      • Experience with the software development lifecycle and delivery using Agile practices.
      • Experience with DB deployment and writing SQL/PLSQL queries.
