      Location: This is a fully remote role. Candidates who live near CB offices have the option of being fully remote or hybrid (Tuesday and Wednesday in office).

      About the Team

      The Procurement team supports the purchasing needs for all divisions across College Board. As a result, our category coverage is broad and includes contingent work force, conferences and events, building and construction projects, enterprise software systems, contact centers, custom consulting engagements, cloud services and increasingly involves AI. Our category managers work directly with leaders from all parts of the business to help define and deliver College Board products and services. In the near term, this Category Manager will sit within our GenAI Studio, focusing their strategic sourcing efforts on products and processes related to Generative AI.

      The GenAI Studio is an internal incubator at College Board that launched in January 2024. Through the Studio, College Board is investing time and resources for genAI ideation. The Studio is responsibly experimenting with AI to generate user value across our portfolio of offerings as well as advising on AI literacy efforts for educators and students. The Studio is led by a diverse, cross-functional team of strategists, technologists, and managers at College Board committed to solving the most impactful and interesting problems arising with AI.

      About the Opportunity

      As our AI Strategic Sourcing Manager, you’ll work to define and improve processes, expanding the responsible use of AI and generative AI across existing products and offerings. This is an exciting role for an experienced procurement leader with expertise in Strategic Sourcing and knowledge of Machine Learning/AI to consult on generative AI products and services, serving as the Subject Matter Expert to College Board teams through the full sourcing life cycle. This includes leveraging your industry and supplier knowledge to identify appropriate vendors and refining the College Board procurement process to include AI reviews and how we store the appropriate/relevant documentation.

      The AI Strategic Sourcing Manager will also lead the AI governance review process, working closely with legal, risk management, and other stakeholders to understand, articulate, and mitigate risks, supporting build v. buy decisions and aligning AI use with organizational priorities. Given the highly cross-functional nature of the role, the AI Strategic Sourcing Manager will sit in the GenAI Studio for the first-year reporting into the Executive Director, AI Business Strategy, while working closely with the Procurement team.

      In this role, you will:

      Leverage knowledge and expertise of AI and generative AI suppliers to strategically advise teams and accelerate deployment in College Board (40%)

      • Conduct market research into generative AI supplier’s product and service offerings to understand market trends, including the capabilities and limitations of AI as the technology continues to evolve, and relative strengths and weaknesses of different supplier offerings

      • Evaluate new suppliers, or new features and functionality of existing suppliers, as requested by internal teams, working closely within GenAI Studio to identify AI functionality that supports multiple org-wide use cases

      • Advise internal teams on supplier tools suited to potential use cases, serving as the translator between technical capabilities/functionality and business needs

      • Work with Technology and AI Governance Committee to rationalize tools to reduce risk and improve College Board leverage

      • Identify and track pilot efforts, reflect the status and evolution as the cases progress through agile development

      Improve process and reporting on AI governance committee (40%)

      • Manage the AI governance committee/process in close partnership with GenAI Studio leadership, bringing together relevant stakeholders (Legal, InfoSec, Technology, etc) to make informed decisions on scaling AI and generative AI

      • Build and maintain the ML/AI registry to document all use cases, collaborating with teams org-wide on reporting needs

      • Proactively engage with internal teams to document new and emerging use cases, consulting on to refining potential AI use cases and high-level business justifications to build a robust project pipeline

      Procurement Process Improvement/Adjustment (20%)

      • Analyze and manage our AI contract landscape, focusing on key suppliers and ensuring compliance with legal guidance.

      • Work closely with the Procurement leadership team to understand the current procurement process and provide strategic guidance on refining it to integrate AI approval and review mechanisms.

      • Serve as the backup to the Sr. Director of Technology Procurement, guiding procurement associates on selecting the appropriate AI path—either Machine Learning (ML) or Generative AI (GenAI)—to advance deals

      • Collaborate with teams from legal, security, IT asset management, and audit to determine the necessary documentation for contract inclusion and to adjust the contract repository for improved reporting.

      About You

      You have:

      • 7-10 years of relevant experience as a Strategic Sourcing expert, with a proven track record in developing and implementing data-driven processes and projects in collaboration with cross-functional client groups.

      • Proven ability to guide stakeholders and teams on AI suppliers and integrations with College Board products and processes.

      • Knowledge of Machine Learning/AI and generative AI capabilities and drawbacks, and a passion for staying up-to-date with emerging technologies

      • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to foster positive and productive working relationships at all levels of the organization and with our external supplier/vendor community

      • Superior quantitative and qualitative analytical skills

      • Initiative and an ability to work in a self-directed environment

      • Experience with Workday Strategic Sourcing and P2P (preferred)

      • The ability to travel 4-6 times per year to team meetings and events

      • You are authorized to work in the United States

      The hiring range for a new employee in this position is $104,000 to $160,000. College Board differentiates salaries by location so where you live will narrow the portion of this range in which you can expect a salary.
