      Job Description:

      This individual will report into the Vice President, Global Marketing and Early Commercial Development and will be responsible for collaborating cross functionally to shape the future of Otsuka with a coherent, well supported therapeutic and early pipeline strategy. The Senior Director, Early Pipeline will provide commercial input from discovery through early development phases prioritizing areas of high unmet need aligned to the therapeutic area strategy. He/She will be responsible for supporting the development of indication and LCM assessments outlining the relative opportunity to inform R&D and portfolio focus from the payer and commercial perspective. Critical to the role will be partnering with R&D, Visterra, TRI, ORC and Astex to be the commercial arm of R&D ensuring the early pipeline is full of assets with the highest commercial potential.

      Core responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

      • Development of therapeutic category assessments outlining the minimally viable global value proposition for payers (public, private) and payer archetypes ( budget impact, cost effectiveness, cost utility, free pricing etc.) including the key criteria needed to support a commercial case
      • Establishment of a consistent, aligned framework that allows for early commercial input across the R&D centres
      • Ensuring that the R&D organizations understand what it will take to be commercially successful in different indications and prioritizing areas where chances of regulatory and reimbursement success are high
      • Assessment of proof of concept opportunities and future clinical trial designs for potential market access risks and/or opportunities to optimize coverage and patient access (e.g., formulation, dosing, outcomes, potential data that would support positive coverage determinations, choice of comparator, potential cost-offset data)
      • Assessment and/or development of assessment tools/methodologies to build an enduring information bank of opportunities/challenges
      • Scenario planning to account for existing and potential future policies that may impact payer perspectives
      • Cross functional collaboration providing learnings and insights based on assets further in development and recently launched to further inform early pipeline focus and decision making
      • Inform portfolio optimization of early discovery molecules based on payer and commercial perspectives

      Qualifications :

      • Advanced degree in related health economic or policy, scientific or business discipline (PH.D, MD or MBA)
      • 12+ years of relevant experience in healthcare environment, preferably pharmaceutical industry or related consulting services
      • Strong understanding of drug discovery and development process
      • Agility and ability to quickly onboard new topics
      • Demonstrated experience in the conception, development and execution of market access plans globally with a proven track record of commercializing and launching products
      • Knowledge of global market dynamics (ie., US, Europe, Asia)
      • Strategic thinker who can connect the dots across functions and find practical solutions
      • Strong interpersonal, communication, and influencing skills combined with an ability to successfully collaborate across a matrix organization, geographies and cultures
      • Strong written and verbal communication skills
      • Executive presence; able to effectively represent the Company internally and externally
      • Working knowledge of CNS, Nephrology and/or Immunology Therapeutic categories a plus

      Annual Salary :

      Minimum $218,953.00 - Maximum $327,405.00, plus annual incentive: The range shown represents a typical pay range or starting salary for candidates hired to perform the work. Other elements may be used to determine actual salary such as the candidate’s job experience, specific skills, and comparison to internal incumbents currently in role.
