- Develop, implement, and continuously improve HR policies and procedures to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
- Maintains knowledge of industry trends and employment legislation and ensures organization's compliance.
- Monitor changes in labor laws and regulations and proactively update company policies and practices accordingly.
- Conduct regular audits and assessments to identify areas of potential non-compliance and develop action plans to address any issues.
- Lead and mentor the HR and compliance team, providing guidance, coaching, and professional development opportunities.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure consistent communication and understanding of compliance requirements.
- Foster a culture of inclusion, diversity, and equity within the organization.
- Manage employee relations matters, including investigations and conflict resolution, while ensuring fairness and adherence to company policies.
- Assists executive management in the annual review, preparation and administration of the organization's wage and salary program.
- Coordinates or conducts exit interviews to determine reasons behind separations.
- Consults with legal counsel as appropriate, or as directed by the CEO, on personnel matters.
- Works directly with department managers to assist them in carrying out their responsibilities on personnel matters.
- Recommends, evaluates and participates in staff development for the organization.
- Develops and maintains a human resource information system that meets the organization's personnel information needs.
- Supervises the staff of the human resource department.
- Participates on committees and special projects and seeks additional responsibilities.
- Develop and deliver compliance training programs to educate employees and management on relevant laws, regulations, and company policies.
- Promote a culture of ethics and compliance throughout the organization.
- Prepare and submit required compliance reports to regulatory agencies.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records and documentation related to HR and compliance activities.
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive HR and compliance experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Master's degree.
- SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) or SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) credential.
- Solid knowledge and experience in HR Generalist functions, including: benefits administration, FLSA, employee relations, FMLA, COBRA, HIPAA, and other federal and state laws and HR practices. Comfortable knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other computer programs.
- Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local labor laws and regulations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Exceptional leadership and team management abilities.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement effective compliance programs.
- Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving skills.
- Certification in HR (e.g., SHRM-SCP, SPHR) and compliance (e.g., CCEP) is a plus.
