Join us as the Senior Director, Portfolio Expansion and Disease Area Strategy, reporting into the Head, Neuroscience Product & Launch Strategy Unit. This position is in our Cambridge, MA office and is apart of Takeda's Global Product & Launch Strategy (GPLS) Business Unit; Takeda’s global commercial strategy organization focused on fueling the growth of Takeda through our inline portfolio strategy and focus on the LCM as well as on launching the future by focusing on our rich pipeline. Our key goal is to prepare to commercialize our unprecedented pipeline that includes best-in-class or in first-class therapies, many of which have complex or under-developed markets or therapy areas. The Senior Director, Portfolio Expansion and Disease Area Strategy role is an integral part of this mission and is critically important to our success. We are tackling some of the biggest and most difficult neurological and neuromuscular diseases, requiring significant expertise and strategic planning.

      How you will contribute:

      • Overall accountability for commercial assessments and strategies that support the Neuroscience (NS) Disease Area Strategy, including specific asset strategies and business development.

      • Disease Area: Develop a comprehensive commercial strategy for all NS Disease Area Strategies across all functions. Ensure successful assessment and planning/implementation of development activities for each Program

      • Asset strategy champion/New Product Planning: accountable for developing, executing, and continually refining the comprehensive, cross-functional commercial strategy and lifecycle plan for all Early pipeline programs. Effectively engage with partners for partnered assets. Assess opt-in/out-out partnership opportunities.

      • Business Development: Overall accountable for commercial assessment for all Business Development activities / in-licensing / due diligence activities. Partner with search team to identify new opportunities for Takeda

      • Commercial leadership: lead the coordination of all commercially relevant activities across all relevant matrix partners in Takeda including Regions, R&D and peer functions within GPLS.

      • Ensure a structure and culture of constructive and successful collaboration with matrix partners is being established and continued through strong leadership and alignment of key global functions, including Commercial, Clinical Development, Global Medical Affairs, Global Regulatory Affairs, Global Manufacturing and Supply, and other functions as needed.

      • Establish and define a clear value proposition for the opportunity that maximizes the benefit to patients, payers, prescribers, providers, and policymakers and therefore the portfolio’s value through the development of the opportunity and ensure the aligned implementation across the functions.

      • Collaborate with market insights partner to develop comprehensive market assessment (disease overview, patient population and segmentation, treatment paradigm, unmet needs, competitive assessment, patient journey and forecast)

      • Lead the development of target product profiles (TPPs) and target product claims (TPCs) based on thorough understanding of market dynamics and potential future trends

      • Direct / implement strategic commercial projects to inform clinical development and commercialization plans

      • Work with medical affairs, market access, health economics and outcomes research teams to enable the development robust payer and health system value propositions.

      • Be responsible for building and aligning the matrixed organization on the building blocks (early Global Brand Plan), partnering with global and regional partners to identify and manage to gaps /opportunities

      • Evaluate market environments, collaborate closely with internal and external thought leaders and key customers in identifying unmet needs and translate information into strategies to achieve short-term and long-term franchise objectives

      • Effectively engage the Regional/ strategic LOC counterparts to ensure a successful commercial assessment development

      • Lead annual portfolio prioritization efforts from a commercial perspective

      Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

      • Bachelor’s degree in science or business required; Advanced degree preferred (MBA, MSc, PhD, PharmD)

      • 15+ years of pharmaceutical/biotech industry including experience in commercial roles, ideally across different markets

      • New product planning experience, corporate development, consulting and/or business development experience

      • Track record of strong strategic thinking and business acumen

      • Ability to rapidly synthesize information from multiple sources, communicate ideas and data both verbally and written in a persuasive and appropriate manner in multi-cultural environment

      • Ability to lead across a matrix organization and to integrate cross-functional thinking into a clear strategy; matrix decision making acumen
