      POSITION SUMMARY: The Senior Director of Sports Nutrition & Strategic Accounts is responsible for developing and executing the strategy for the Sports Nutrition channel in close collaboration with the Head of Sales. This role ensures a clear and effective strategy, drives business development, leads a small sales team of seven, and achieves—if not exceeds—annual sales goals. Additionally, this role is accountable for meeting channel objectives and key performance indicators (KPIs) while managing relationships with both new and existing accounts. This is a fast-paced, high-visibility role with high expectations to elevate Thorne’s Sports Nutrition channel to best-in-class status. This position may also involve providing sales support for large strategic accounts outside of the Sports Nutrition channel.

      Compensation is base + 50% Commission Target


      RESPONSIBILITIES

      • Leads Sports Nutrition business development initiatives by implementing comprehensive sales and marketing strategies outlined in contracts while proactively identifying additional growth opportunities beyond contractual commitments.
      • Drives revenue, profitability, and margins while strengthening account relationships. Develops and executes new strategies, product launches, and partnerships to maximize growth, actively seeking and closing new business within the Sports Nutrition marketplace.
      • Identifies and implements innovative strategies to expand Thorne’s brand visibility, awareness, and profitability.
      • Serves as a strategic liaison between Thorne and its clients and major partners, ensuring effective communication and issue resolution through collaboration with Marketing, Sales, Medical Affairs, R&D, IT, Supply Chain, Legal, and Operations.
      • Works closely with customers to enhance business outcomes, leveraging deep industry knowledge and expertise. Collaborates to identify challenges, develop action plans, and support customer business objectives.
      • Anticipates customer needs, proactively delivers solutions, and takes initiative to enhance customer satisfaction.
      • Demonstrates strong organizational and strategic planning skills to drive business growth and increase market share.
      • Communicates confidently and assertively, expressing opinions effectively even in challenging discussions. Engages in clear, professional communication with colleagues at all levels.
      • Comfortable developing and delivering high-impact presentations to C-suite executives.
      • Manages status calls, briefings, documentation, and follow-ups, ensuring alignment and accountability.
      • Proactively seeks and applies performance feedback, including assessments of achievements, behaviors, and leadership potential. Also encourages constructive feedback for continuous self-improvement.
      • Actively participates in training and development programs, supporting both personal growth and team development initiatives.


      EXPERIENCE / COMPETENCIES / PROFICIENCIES

      • Bachelor’s degree in related field is required. A minimum of 7+ years industry related work experience required.
      • Must be an organized and results driven project manager, salesperson and proven closer.
      • Combination of at least two or more years of direct and indirect sales experience with a focus on business development or the equivalent in related work experience.
      • Sports Nutrition channel experience with exceptional knowledge, contacts, and understanding of the trends and needs of the business.
      • Knowledge of athletics/sport is beneficial.
      • Demonstrates outstanding performance in relationship management, sales, and business development. Emphasis on gyms, trainers, and clubs.
      • Demonstrates ability to develop and deliver upon business objectives within stated timeframes.
      • Builds, develops, motivates, and engages high-performance teams and work cross-functionally.
      • Possesses good interpersonal skills and engages others in a positive manner, including mid-level to C-Suite executives within organizations as assigned.
      • Possesses strong attention to detail.
      • Possesses strong verbal and communication skills.
      • Raises issues and concerns promptly. Documents and presents work in a clear and concise manner.
      • Works independently with little direction in a fast-paced environment. Manages complex sales processes in related fields while possessing strong account management skills.
      • Possesses knowledge of the computers and software required to accomplish the Responsibilities of the job.
