      Company:

      Mercer

      Description:

This position is available in several US cities and offers candidates the flexibility to telecommute if desired.

Mercer is a global consulting leader helping clients around the world advance the health, wealth and careers of their most vital asset — their people.

Mercer’s Law & Policy Group (L&P) is seeking a talented legal editor to join our team of lawyers, actuaries and technical experts in covering developments affecting health, wealth and global legislative, regulatory, judicial and government relations issues.

L&P partners internally across Mercer’s lines of business to help clients address their most complex issues. Our US coverage focuses on health and welfare plans for active and retired employees, health care reform, retirement plans — including qualified defined benefit and defined contribution plans and nonqualified deferred compensation plans — and voluntary benefit programs.

Our global team informs multinational clients about emerging legislative and regulatory trends and compliance risks to their workforce operations. Global topics covered include retirement, health, executive rewards, employment, talent mobility restrictions or encouragements, and diversity and inclusion.

We will count on you to:

      • Edit US and global legal technical/analytical articles (GRISTs), legislative and regulatory updates, news briefs, blog posts and PowerPoint presentations
      • Submit L&P-created intellectual capital for posting on the company’s internal- and external-facing platforms and working with web teams to ensure content is accurate.
      • Assemble and email weekly roundups of the latest posted content
      • Write pithy single-paragraph or single-page highlights of longer pieces
      • Locate legal source materials on government and other websites

      What you need to have:

      • A Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Journalism or related field
      • A minimum of 5 years of legal editing experience
      • Expert knowledge of English grammar and usage
      • Superior editing and writing skills
      • Experience/familiarity with issues related to health and fringe benefits and retirement issues
      • Mastery of MS Word and PowerPoint formatting, Outlook, and basic understanding of HTML/web-tagging principles
      • Mastery of AP style and familiarity with Bluebook style, coupled with the flexibility to apply product-specific exceptions to those style rules

      What makes you stand out:

      • Paralegal or law degree a plus
      • Strong analytical and logical reasoning skills
      • Organized, accurate and detail-oriented
      • Ability to work rapidly and effectively under pressure and with minimal supervision
      • Ability to meet tight deadlines and prioritize a varied workload in a fast-paced, unpredictable, and demanding environment
      • Ability to explain editorial changes to authors and discuss appropriate compromises as needed
      • Honest, direct and comfortable giving and receiving constructive feedback during the writing process
      • Ability to adapt to various writers’ styles while maintaining consistency among product types

      Why join our team:

      • We help you be your best through professional development opportunities, interesting work, and supportive leaders.
      • We foster a vibrant and inclusive culture where you can work with talented colleagues to create new solutions and have impact for colleagues, clients, and communities.
      • Our scale enables us to provide a range of career opportunities, as well as benefits and rewards to enhance your well-being.
