      Established in 1957, the department of Nuclear Engineering in the Tickle College of Engineering was the first and continues to be one of the most prestigious in the United States. Our graduate program is consistently ranked as one of the top in the nation by U.S. News and World Report.

      Our Nuclear Engineering Department is seeking a Senior Financial Associate to assist in performing the fiscal functions of the department. This position assists the Assistant Business Manager by providing assistance to faculty and staff for fiscal policy compliance along with granting agency guidelines and is responsible for addressing questions and concerns in a timely manner. This position represents the unit in a professional manner, often dealing with individuals and organizations external to the university. Decisions made by this position can impact the department's ability to meet fiscal obligations, to comply with state, university, and agency policies and to promote viable relationships with outside constituents.

      Additionally, this role assists faculty with assimilation of research proposal information which includes budget forecasting, financial reporting, and tracking of project deliverables. The position is also responsible for proposal preparation assistance and review, post-award preparation of project extension, re-budget, subcontract, and closeout documentation. This position provides support for compliance and financial analysis for externally funded grants and contracts, and acts as a primary resource for guidance and direction for Principal Investigators (PIs).

      Minimum/Required Qualifications:

      High school diploma with 4+ years of experience in accounting

      • Experience in an academic environment.

      •Knowledge of basic accounting principles.

      •Excellent communication, customer service and organization skills.

      •Ability to multi-task and work independently.

      •Ability to prioritize a heavy work load.

      • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.

      •Ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks based on needs of others and with time-sensitive deadlines.

      •Understanding of confidentiality and protection of sensitive information

      • Sound interpersonal and communication skills.

      • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.

      Preferred Qualifications:

      · Associate degree in a related field preferred with 2+ years of accounting experience.

      · Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred with accounting experience. Experience in academic environment

      · Knowledge of state and federal contract and grant financial requirements

      · Knowledge of SAP/IRIS

      · Working Knowledge of UT fiscal policies and procedures
