The Prince William County Department of Social Services, Family Services Division, seeks an outstanding applicant for a Senior Human Services Caseworker position for the Foster Care/Intake team.       About This Role:
      The Senior Human Services Caseworker will assist the manager with leading a team who support youth in foster care. The Senior Human Services Caseworker will demonstrate core competencies across the spectrum of child welfare services, including areas such as human/child development, cultural competency, family-centered practices, intervention strategies, family preservation methods, permanency planning, family assessment, case planning, and preparing court documents. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a public child-welfare agency, managing cases and supervising others who perform professional-level work.

      The Senior Human Services Caseworker will also assist the manager in developing, overseeing and maintaining a structured intake process for all children entering foster care. They will provide direct support to workers responsible for securing all the services and documentation needed to establish a case. The successful candidate must have strong knowledge of foster care policies and mandates. They must also be able to organize information, research and collect outside resources, track tasks to completion, evaluate service gaps and identify solutions, meet important deadlines and ensure that every foster child entering our system is well-established in their placement and their permanency goal is supported.

      The Prince William Department of Social Services has a staff of over 400 and serves the community through adult and child welfare programs, public benefits distribution, and homeless prevention services. We annually serve over 100,000 people with the goal of creating self-sufficiency and economic stability.       Minimum Requirements:
      Bachelor's degree in human services, social services, social work, or a related field and 2 years of social casework experience.

      Preferences:
      • Previous experience working with foster care youth and families in a public child-welfare agency such as a Department of Social Services;
      • Previous experience working with older teens, especially those who have experienced trauma or complex family situations;
      • Previous experience collaborating with partnering agencies such as mental health, schools, court-services, police, and service vendors;
      • Knowledge of state and federal child welfare policies and procedures;
      • Previous experience supervising staff who have performed professional-level work.

      Special Requirements:
      • Staff in this position must pass criminal history, child protective services and DMV background checks. They must possess a valid driver’s license and be eligible to drive for work.
      • Resource/foster parents for youth in the Prince William foster-care program may not be employed by the Prince William Dept of Social Services. Resource/foster parents for youth from other localities are welcome to apply.
      • All DSS staff are required to provide emergency human services work, including staffing emergency shelters in the event of a community disaster.

      Work Schedule:

      Mon- Fri, 37.5 hours per week. This position may require some work in the evening or on weekends.

      Entry Salary Range: $76,069.50 - $104,676.00 Annually
