      Job summary

      This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated registered nurse to join the Infection Prevention and Control Team at Warrington and Halton Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The Trust is rated as Good by the CQC and on a journey to becoming Outstanding for our patients, our communities and each other.

      The post provides an opportunity for you to learn skills in managing and developing the Trust's Infection Prevention and Control Service in conjunction with the Associate Chief Nurse for Infection Prevention. You will be responsible for managing the Infection Prevention and Control Nurses on a day-to-day basis and have overall and continuing responsibility for implementing strategies to reduce the risk of infection to patients, staff, and visitors.

      Main duties of the job

      The successful applicants will assist the Trust to meet specific health targets e.g. MRSA, C. difficile and Gram-negative bloodstream infection and the requirements of the Health and Social Care Act 2008 Code of Practice on the Prevention and Control of Infections and Related Guidance.

      Applicants should have excellent communication skills, be a team player and also able to work independently. Applicants should be able to work effectively in an environment with frequent interruptions and within stressful, unpredictable situations including responding to and solving urgent and emergency situations on a daily basis. The role involves daily communication with clinical staff to provide advice on safe patient care.

      The successful applicant willdeputise for the Associate Chief Nurse for Infection Prevention & Control. The role currently involves participation in an on-call rota, however this is under review.
