Job Description

INTRODUCTION:

We are looking for a motivated self-starter with strong DevOps, LINUX, and an automation technical skillset and experience to help drive efficiency, process improvement, and future needs. This is an exciting, fast-paced environment with numerous opportunities to participate in a variety of initiatives, as well as help shape our infrastructure in both current and future state. The Senior IT DevOps Engineer will play a lead role in the analysis, design, and standards development for the implementation efforts targeted to deliver a highly available enterprise infrastructure platform. The Senior IT DevOps Engineer will be primarily focused on requirements assessment, vision clarification, and design. The perfect fit would be someone who has a high level of experience of many flavors of LINUX, Infrastructure as code/configuration management tools, and working in a Cloud/On Prem enterprise environment. The prospective candidate should have experience in both legacy system support as well as datacenter transitioning and modernization projects. The Senior IT DevOps Engineer is self-directed, and is effective in communication to senior management, speaking with customers, or working with the engineering team based on the respective audience. The candidate should be comfortable providing a leadership role in assigned projects.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

• Experience with traditional Datacenter Technologies (VMware, F5, Nginx, Apache, 3-Scale, Encryption appliances)

• Experience with Cloud Technologies (AWS, Azure)

• Experience with management of on prem and cloud infrastructure to include all LINUX, Docker and Kubernetes Clusters, Enterprise Logging, Enterprise Monitoring, Network Load Balancers, and CI/CD stacks.

• Assists in the ongoing support of ABC’s comprehensive Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery program, including assisting in documenting, testing, and modifying the company’s DR/BC plan. Working with cross-functional teams to understand their applications and recovery process is essential.

• Supports the use of sound industry best practice in both infrastructure as code design and configuration management principles across the entire organization.

• Stays current on new and emerging technologies that could benefit ABCs business and improve efficiencies.

• Ensures that ABC delivers an ‘Always on IT Service’ to our customers.

• Creates and maintains up to date network/ support documentation and diagrams (i.e. LucidCharts, Miro, etc) at all times.

• Adhere to ABC Incident/Change/Problem management policies and associated systems.

• Generates and presents subject matter expert presentations and reports to IT management as needed and manage vendor relations as required.

• Provides executive summary and status reports on demand or on a reoccurring basis if needed.

• Works closely with other IT/SD teams for problem resolution and project coordination.

• Researches, develops, and maintains solid business relationships with related IT vendors.

• Promotes and ensures cross-department cooperation.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED:

• Preferred Education: BS in computer science or related field

• Maintain related technical certifications.

• 4+ years with Enterprise Datacenter Experience or Cloud Experience

• 4+ years in an enterprise LINUX/DevOps

• Experience with PCI-DSS.

• Experience in a SaaS Environment

• Experience with Kubernetes Deployments (Amazon EKS, Tanzu)

• Experience with Infrastructure as Code Tools (Terraform, Ansible, Helm, CloudFormation)

• Experience managing CI/CD tools (Jenkins, Spinnaker, Bamboo, Team City)

• Experience with LINUX distributions (CentOS/RHEL, Ubuntu, AWS LINUX)

• Experience with J2EE web servers: JBoss and Tomcat.

• Experience with APIs in a Software Development Environment

• An understanding of DNS (Bind, Route53), DHCP, and Active Directory

• Experience with enterprise logging platforms (ELK, Splunk)

• Experience with enterprise monitoring platforms (Nagios, CloudWatch, DataDog, AppD, Dynatrace) in a hybrid environment.

• Experience with product versioning such as SVN and Git

• Possesses effective critical analytical thinking skills.

• Recommended: Experience managing infrastructure in a public cloud (AWS/Azure/GCP)

• Recommended: Experience working in and /or transitioning operations to a Hybrid Environment

• Recommended: Experience with VMware Products (vSphere)

• Server Hardware Administration (UCS, Dell, etc.)

• Storage Administration (Pure Storage, Oracle, etc.)

• VDI Infrastructure Administration (VMware Horizon, Citrix, Windows VDs)

• Zerto Software and Backup Software Experience (Cohesity, Veeam, etc.) is a plus
