      Senior Manager, Banking Executive Accountability Regime (BEAR) – Fixed Term - 12months

      The Office of the Deputy CEO brings an increased focus on some of the most vital work the Group needs to do to build a better bank for the future.

      The BEAR Supervisory Office plays a critical role in supporting CBA and its Accountable Persons to comply with the Banking Executive Accountability Regime (BEAR), which will be replaced by the Financial Accountability Regime (FAR). The BEAR is an APRA-regulated legislative regime which establishes accountability obligations for banks and their senior executives and directors.

      The BEAR Supervisory Office has three core functions:

      • Maintaining and administering CBA’s BEAR framework;

      • Training and advisory support for compliance with BEAR obligations; and

      • Identifying, and coordinating investigations of, potential BEAR breaches.


      The BEAR Supervisory Office works closely with senior stakeholders and other teams across the CBA Group, including Group Executives, Directors, Legal and Group Secretariat, Group Risk and HR, as well as representatives from each business and support unit.

      Do work that matters:

      This role will administer, manage and monitor CBA’s BEAR framework to improve governance and strengthen accountability across the Group from the top down, as well as prepare for the implementation of the FAR.

      A key responsibility for this role includes:

      You will be expected to perform the following tasks in a manner consistent with CBA's Values and People Capabilities:

      • Work with key stakeholders to ensure CBA meets its notification obligations under the BEAR/FAR by supporting the registration/de-registration of Accountable Persons and updates to the Accountability Statements, and maintaining the Accountability Map.

      • Contribute to the maintenance of the BEAR Supervisory Office risk profile, including control performance and managing associated incidents and issues.

      • Contribute to the maintenance of CBA’s BEAR/FAR framework, including operating procedures and other resources.

      • Assist the team with providing advice and guidance to Accountable Persons and their business and support units on the BEAR/FAR and CBA’s BEAR/FAR framework

      • Contribute to CBA’s implementation of the FAR.
