      WHAT WE OFFER

      The Public Affairs function is responsible for monitoring, tracking and efficiently addressing policies that affect the company and its business in the highly complex political environment. The position furthermore monitors and informs on business environment related questions and devises the strategic advocacy path to government and further stakeholders to ensure the viability of long-term business operations.

      The Senior Manager for European Public Affairs is located at the Covestro EU Liaison Office (EU LO) in Brussels, Belgium, and reports to the Head of European Public Affairs.

      The position supports the Liaison Office at EU level by managing a defined set of policy issues. The purpose is to support the EU LO in building relationships with a broad and complex network of policy related stakeholders such as politicians, parliamentarians and influencing bodies like industry associations to ensure that interests and needs of the company are reflected and heard by policy makers at European Union level.

      Major tasks and responsibilities:

      • Identify policy topics of relevance for the company and its business , monitor emerging political trends of relevant regulations and policiesand anticipate potential policies that may positively or negatively impact the business.

      • Continuously leverage a comprehensive map of policy stakeholders, decision-makers and influencers and support the development of a strategy to effectively deliver the company position and systematically engage, build and maintain dialogue.

      • Support at EU level a proactive Public Affairs strategy to position Covestro and its core objectives with key political stakeholders.

      • Management of key policy issues:

      - Lobbying and advocacy strategies as well as serving as representative on relevant regional Covestro and global working groups

      - Regularly liaise with business entities and their customers (as needed) to support specific business needs at EU level

      - Represent the company and its position in overarching industryassociations when devising industry-wide lobbying strategies and

      at relevant levels of policy making bodies and relevant non-governmental organizations

      - in particular identify and manage speaking opportunities for board members and senior managers to interact with EU top politicaldecision makers.

      • Support public affairs activities in key national markets

      WHAT YOU OFFER

      Qualifications:

      • University degree in political science, communications, law, business administration, natural sciences or equivalent with 8+ years of experience managing topics related to advocacy & government affairs in the chemical industry or similar

      • Practical experience with and knowledge of political arena in Europe as well as established professional network Experience representing a company / organization externally

      • Detailed knowledge of company’s main industries, products, and markets

      • Experience in diverse regions / functions preferred

      • Experience in the field of sustainability and circular economy is a plus

      • Results-oriented and a team-player

      • Ability to communicate (both written and verbal) in a precise and effective manner

      • Fluent in English. Good working level knowledge of German and French is an advantage.
