- Provide operational oversight and management of SFOTEC’s Ramp and Tower Operations to include:
- Ramp Procedures, Ground Handling Agent (GHA) Aircraft Handling & Operations
- Passenger Loading Bridge Operations
- Ground Service Equipment (GSE) Operations
- Baggage Handling at Ramp Level
- Coordination with Ramp Control Tower
- Safety and Security Procedures on the Ramp
- Others, as required
- Provide leadership and development to a team of Duty Managers and Ramp Tower Controllers plus contracted service personnel.
- Implement, oversee and enhance a comprehensive ground plan to include gate hold management insuring Safety, Security & Performance are paramount.
- Provide the Director of Operations and Managing Director with reports, accomplishments, and issues related to the operation of the Ramp and associated equipment.
- Oversee and contribute towards a comprehensive Performance management plan (to include contract management and RFPs.
- Contribute to the ongoing development and use of SFOTEC’s Safety & Compliance Dashboard.
- Contribute to the ongoing development of SFOTEC’s Ground Handler Scorecard.
- Ensure continued AGOA platform compliance and ongoing feedback into it’s development.
- Represent the Managing Director and SFOTEC leadership as necessary.
- Develop and maintain internal and external relationships including, but not limited to the following parties:
- SFOTEC Executive Committee and Member Airlines
- Non-Member Airlines
- SFOTEC Service Contractors
- SFO International Airport Authority (SFIAA)
- San Francisco Police Department (SFPD)
- FIS Agencies
- US Department of Homeland Security/Transportation Security Administration
- Federal Aviation Administration
- Third Party Organizations (Consultants, Attorneys, Accountants, Auditors, etc.)
- SFO Community at large
- Manage member and vendor relationships on a day-to-day basis.
- Develop and maintain quality control standards for performance, reliability, serviceability, and safety of contracted vendors.
- Anticipate, identify, and resolve service/operational problems with a results-oriented approach.
- Identify, recommend and initiate enhancements/changes to processes and procedures to better support operational and service objectives.
- Keep all concerned parties informed of daily operational requirements and changes.
- Share key performance indicators and results with concerned parties.
- Ensure service standards are consistently understood and maintained.
- Support/participate in ramp investigations related to alleged theft, non-compliance, or other related issues.
- Participate in all SFIA, TSA, and SFPD irregularity drills to ensure operational effectiveness during actual events.
- Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with established service levels for performance, reliability, serviceability, and safety.
- Respond to and resolve facility-related issues in a timely manner by initiating corrective actions.
- Act as a liaison during airline operational irregularities, emergencies, and security incidents in ramp area. Prepare detailed narrative reports.
- Perform other miscellaneous duties as assigned by the Director of Operations or Managing Director.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or experience.
- 5 years’ experience in Airline, Airport Operations or a related field
- 5 years leadership and team management experience
- Familiarity with operative documents, including leases, contracts, agreements, and all other aspects of the Ramp Facilities.
- Must be able to pass a criminal background check and obtain and maintain federally mandated security clearances required to work at an airport.
- Valid Driver’s License required
- Valid Passport with ability to obtain travel Visa / Travel Authorization as required
- Aircraft Ground Handling Knowledge with In-depth understanding of ramp procedures, aircraft handling, and related operational tasks
- Expertise in ramp safety protocols, security procedures, and compliance with aviation industry regulations.
- Understanding of baggage handling systems and procedures to ensure efficient loading, unloading, and processing.

We ensure all stakeholders successfully work through the business, financial, technical, and operational issues that arise in the aviation industry.Our client, the San Francisco Terminal Equipment Company, LLC (SFOTEC) is responsible for the operation and maintenance of equipment, facilities, and services at San Francisco International Airport (SFO) including all terminal, landside, and airside operations and we are looking for a Senior Manager, Ramp & Tower Operations to join the team. Commercial aviation experience is required.
Overview
The Senior Manager, Ramp & Tower Operations will be directly responsible for the day-to-day operational performance across several key areas, including ramp procedures, Ground Handling Agent (GHA) aircraft handling, and operations. This includes managing passenger loading bridge operations, Ground Service Equipment (GSE) operations, and baggage handling at the ramp level. The Senior Manager will coordinate and lead the implementation of safety, security and performance initiatives on the ramp, in addition to addressing any other operational needs as required.
Salary Range: $100,000 - $120,000.
