      This role sits within the CBA Retail Banking Services (RBS) Strategy function, which is accountable for defining the strategic roadmap for the Retail Bank and reinforcing the Bank’s purpose and values. The strategy team oversees the ongoing development of the RBS strategy by advising and facilitating RBS leadership team discussions, preparing materials for the CBA Retail and Executive Leadership Teams and the Board, and by collaborating on projects with leaders across the Retail Bank and the Group.

      The team is also responsible for leading the sourcing and creation of new partnerships to broaden the Bank’s footprint and service offerings to ensure the Bank is optimally positioned to achieve its strategic vision. This includes determining the best approach for business partnerships, assisting with the transaction, and overseeing the integration of the new business partners into the CBA ecosystem. The team was recently instrumental in establishing CBA’s business relationships with More Telecom, Little Birdie and Amber Electric.

      Do work that matters:

      The Senior Manager role will report directly to the Executive Manager for RBS Strategy and Business Development. The successful candidate will be leading and contributing to multiple strategic and business development projects within RBS. This includes building the business case and strategy, assessing new market / product opportunities, as well as working with cross-functional teams to facilitate acquisition, supplier onboarding, defining the customer offering, and working with delivery teams to implement the solution. The successful applicant is likely to have direct reports and will be expected to support junior team members with their career development.

      Key responsibilities include:

      • Analysis of the retail banking operating environment and identification of the potential medium to longer term issues and trends that are of strategic significant to the Retail Bank’s portfolio of businesses

      • Evaluation of the implications of changes to the operating environment, and developing the strategic options and recommendations to achieve the Retail Bank’s vision and objectives

      • Working closely with other strategy, business development and delivery teams across the Group and RBS to ensure alignment and awareness of interdependencies and collaborative opportunities

      • Producing formal papers for the Retail and Executive Leadership teams, as well as the CBA Board

      • Taking end-to-end ownership of work streams, independently managing deliverables while also providing leadership and guidance for a small, high-performing team of direct reports

      We’re interested in hearing from people who have:

      • At least 3-5 years’ experience in corporate strategy, business development, top-tier management consulting, or similar

      • Tertiary education in business, economics, science, engineering, law or similar fields

      • Ability to take ownership of complex strategic cases, with demonstrated structured problem solving capability and hypothesis-led thinking and analysis

      • Deep understanding of the Retail Banking industry would be highly regarded

      • Exceptional communication and stakeholder engagement skills

      • Demonstrated ability to work effectively and efficiently while leading high-performing teams
