What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Monitor, evaluate, draft, and develop written analysis and advocacy materials on proposed legislation, regulations, and policies
- Work with AILA staff and committees to identify emerging issues and trends in immigration policy
- Draft and design educational products to maximize AILA's impact on target audiences
- Represent AILA in advocacy with Congress and government agencies
- Support and guide the work of AILA’s subject matter expert committees and provide resources on policy matters to members
What is Required (Qualifications):
- J.D. or master’s in public policy or a related field
- J.D. and bar admission preferred
- Three to five (3-5) years of immigration policy and/or general immigration law practice experience
- Experience working with administrative agencies, Congress, or coalition organizations
- Prior experience in an association, member-service, or customer service environment is helpful
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Experience with benefits immigration issues, including consular, employment-based, family-sponsored, and/or humanitarian issues
- Familiarity with legislative analysis and policy advocacy
- Strong communication skills for educating through various mediums
- Demonstrated ability to cultivate relationships and partnerships in advocacy efforts
