About the Role

We are looking for a dynamic, open minded, business oriented Senior Underwriter to join the P&C Underwriting team in LUXEMBOURG.

The position holder will be responsible for underwriting renewal and new profitable Property treaty business. The core focus of the role will be assessing complex reinsurance treaties and transactions.

The position holder will report to Head Property UW EMEA with a dotted reporting line to the Luxembourg P&C Underwriting Head.

Your work as a Property Underwriter:

You will join a results-oriented team of underwriters and in strong conjunction with our Client Management, Underwriting and Transaction teams across EMEA contribute to the overall strategy, plan and initiatives.

• Assess complex treaties from both a quantitative and qualitative perspective

• Take underwriting decisions in adherence to the guidelines and best practices of Swiss Re

• Develop costings by analyzing the available data and combining this with external factors and trends

• Proactively suggest and drive efficient treaty structures and terms or new reinsurance programs

• Understand clients' needs, motivations and priorities as well as risk and capital drivers and align with Swiss Re's strength in order to develop win-win solutions, leveraging the full range of Swiss Re capabilities

• Contribute to the development and implementation of holistic client strategies and action plans

• Build and maintain client and broker relationships through proactive engagement

• Contribute to Swiss Re positioning in Luxembourg

• Stay ahead: anticipate and analyze future industry/economic/legal trends and contribute to (re)insurance product development

About the Team

Perfectly integrated in Luxembourg Swiss Re Office, the Luxembourg Underwriting team is in charge of developing a sustainable and profitable underwriting portfolio across P&C and L&H in Luxembourg.

Composed of highly motivated people with strong team spirit, the team focuses primarily on supporting EMEA markets in developing structured solutions for their clients and prepares the ground for a future enlarging of its underwriting mandate in the short or medium term.

The team is fully integrated in EMEA Underwriting Community and collaborates fully with our Client Management, Underwriting and Transaction teams across the region.

About you

• University degree in actuarial, science, finance, economics, law or equivalent

• 5 years or more of experience in underwriting, sales, (re)insurance R&D or any other relevant function in the (Re)insurance industry or in consulting sector; experience in Property Underwriting is an advantage

• Strong quantitative and analytical skills

• Sound financial knowledge

• Solid business acumen and results orientation

• Ability to design and sell differentiating, innovative solutions

• Self motivation and curiosity with an eagerness to seek challenges by exploring as well as grow the scope of existing business models

• Strategic ability to apply common business sense

• Very good communication and interpersonal skills

• At ease in external interactions with Clients and Brokers

• Proficient English. Additional languages like German, French, Spanish or Italian are a plus.
