      Who we are

      The Office of Undergraduate Recruitment handles freshman, transfer, international, and other prospective students who wish to apply to Texas A&M University. The office is also responsible for recruiting and enrollment an academically prepared student body with different perspectives, talents, and Identities. In addition, Undergraduate Recruitment also offers several opportunities for prospective students and their families to visit campus throughout the year to learn about the rich traditions and culture of Texas A&M University.

      What we want

      This Senior Regional Advisor position is responsible for the development and implementation of admission, financial aid, and early outreach strategies that enhance the identification, recruitment and enrollment of prospective students interested in attending Texas A&M. Serve as mentor and trainer for other staff and serve as lead on select recruitment programs. In addition, the individual serving in this position is expected to serve as an information resource, support and backup for the Assistant Director(s), and provide leadership in managing recruitment and training programs.

      What you need to know

      Salary range: $44,912.00 - $57,740.80/Annual (Compensation will be commensurate to selected hire's experience).

      Position Details: Ability to lift and carry boxes/equipment weighing at least 50 pounds. Non-traditional working hours, travel, and weekend work commitment.

      Required Education and Experience:

      • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience

      • Four years’ experience in admissions, recruitment, advising, financial aid, or outreach

      Required Licenses and Certifications:

      • Must have a Class “C” vehicle operator’s license or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment

      Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

      • Ability to operate a computer

      • Working knowledge of standard office equipment and computers

      • Excellent oral and written communication skills with individuals and in a group setting

      • Ability to work well with students and parents

      • Ability use word processing and spreadsheet programs

      • Knowledge of financial aid programs and federal regulations relating to student financial aid

      • Ability to work as a team member in a dynamic organization, possessing a positive attitude and is customer- service oriented

      • Must be literate in the English language and able to comprehend and follow both written and verbal instructions

      • Ability to perform accurately in a detail-oriented environment with good interpersonal communication skills

      • Ability to organize and make decisions

      • Ability to work well under pressure in a team environment

      • Must be self-motivated with the ability to coordinate and attend meetings and conferences at times beyond usual working hours

      Preferred Education and Experience:

      • Masters Degree

      • Significant experience in Admissions and Financial Aid

      • Supervisory experience

      • Bilingual (Spanish)

      Responsibilities:

      • Matriculation - Uses professional judgment in advising and assisting students in solving their financial problems through scholarships, loans, grants, employment, and financial counseling; uses professional judgment in assisting to provide budgeting, money management, loans, and indebtedness counseling to students on an individual and group basis and makes presentations to groups regarding financial aid and scholarship programs. Works with the Financial Aid Office about awarding and adjusting financial aid awards as necessary to conform to federal, state, and institutional policies and regulations.

      • Recruitment - Identifies, recruits, and contributes to increasing the population of admitted and enrolled underrepresented students in designated high schools and regions. Works directly with prospective students and parents through the entire admissions, scholarship, and financial aid application process; follow-up on specific questions; troubleshoot any issues. Coordinates with high school counselors to facilitate the admissions, financial aid, and scholarship application process; implements recruitment activities such as campus trips, presentations, resource tables, application workshops and designated area projects. Organizes, implements, and reports on programs/projects including marketing, accommodations, itineraries, meals, speakers, and records.

      • Customer Service - Interacts with high school faculty, administration, and staff to provide and exchange information and to enhance the counseling and advisement of students considering/planning on attending Texas A&M. Develops, implements, and manages recruitment and financial aid early awareness programs for Service assigned areas. Conducts presentations and works at resource tables as requested. Establishes community contacts in select areas in market or region. Develops working relationships with university agencies, departments, counselors, and advisors to enhance customer service and satisfaction. Assists with developing and revising admissions and financial aid consumer information materials, publications and brochures for currently enrolled students, prospective students, and their parents, as well as for college, department, and university use. Conducts presentations at local, state, and regional conferences. Interacts with university faculty, administration, and staff to provide and exchange of relevant information and data that enhances the counseling and advisement of students. Collaborates with outside organizations and constituent groups to involve them in recruitment activities.

      • Leadership - Serves as a mentor and assists in the training of subordinate advisors regarding admissions and financial aid rules, regulations, policies, and procedures, as well as how to develop and maintain relationships in high schools and community agencies. Coordinates major office programs. Assumes leadership roles in local, state, regional and national professional associations, and committees. Assists in training and coordinating staff development to include leading certain training sessions. Performs other duties as assigned.
