What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Lead the conceptualization and conduct of research projects related to climate-smart agriculture
- Manage sponsored research programs and ensure the completion of project objectives
- Write and submit peer-reviewed journal articles based on research findings
- Present research at academic conferences and to public audiences
- Collaborate closely with partners, including private sector retailers and conservation districts

What is Required (Qualifications):
- PhD in applied economics or a relevant field
- Record of experience submitting academic papers for peer-reviewed publication
- Excellent communication skills
- For Senior Research Scientist: Considerable record of published research and demonstrated content expertise in relevant areas
- Experience managing sponsored research projects and/or personnel

How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Knowledge of crop and/or animal agriculture, including USDA-NRCS conservation practices or climate-smart agriculture
- Experience working with local Soil and Water Conservation Districts
- Expertise in designing and executing randomized controlled experiments and lab-in-the-field choice experiments
- Familiarity with ecosystem service valuation techniques, particularly concerning water quality and greenhouse gases in agricultural settings
