Our team in Lonza are growing and we are looking for a Senior Scientist to join us.

The Senior Scientist will be required to work over the weekend with workdays between Thursday to Monday and the days off being Tuesday and Wednesday each week.

The ideal candidate will have experience in mammalian upstream process development and a good understanding of bioreactor operations including perfusion and control systems. This lab based role uses small bioreactors to help deliver technical solutions for the next generation cell culture processes that meet industry demands and maintain Lonza as the lead supplier.

Key responsibilities:

• Plan and execute experiments using lab scale bioreactors to develop and optimize protein production processes (Fed batch / perfusion)
• Analyzing, interpreting and presenting data to internal stakeholders
• Lab maintenance and adhering to health and safety guidelines
• General administration within the lab/team

Key requirements:

• BSc, MSc, BEng, MEng in life science or equivalent. Preferred area of study: Cell biology, Biochemistry, Bioprocess and Chemical engineering
• Previous practical industry and/or academic experience of running lab scale bioreactor for process development and optimization
• Knowledge and practical expertise in lab bioreactor processes
• Research focused, with a keen interest in innovating within antibody manufacturing and control system
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Understanding the market Lonza services
• Proven ability to deliver innovative solutions to scientific challenges
