What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Provide legal information in plain language to self-represented litigants (SRLs), including assessing court forms and explaining procedures
- Manage contact from SRLs through various channels including in-person, phone, email, and web-based technologies
- Offer support, work direction, and coaching to Self-Help Center Specialists to enhance customer service
- Assist with complex customer service matters and identify resources to promote access to the court
- Act as a resource to court personnel and stakeholders to improve services for SRLs
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in social services, law, criminal justice, court administration, or a related field
- Two to three years of experience in a court or legal setting or equivalent education and experience totaling six years or more
- Experience providing exceptional customer service
- Ability to simplify legal concepts for effective communication with SRLs
- Knowledge of issues facing people experiencing trauma, housing instability, violence, and poverty
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Law degree from an accredited law school or a master's degree in a related field
- Current admission to the Bar of the State of Minnesota, in good standing
- Experience supervising or providing work direction to others
- Fluency in a language other than English, such as Spanish, Somali, Hmong, Oromo, Amharic, or American Sign Language
- Experience creating or reviewing educational materials on legal topics
