      Responsibilities

      Peraton is seeking a Senior Software Developer to join our team in Monrovia, California to support our Deep Space Network (DSN) program with JPL and NASA.

      The Deep Space Network is NASA’s international array of giant radio antennas that supports interplanetary spacecraft missions, plus a few that orbit Earth. The DSN also provides radar and radio astronomy observations that improve our understanding of the solar system and the larger universe. The antennas of the Deep Space Network are the indispensable link to explorers venturing beyond the moon. They provide the crucial connection for commanding our spacecraft and receiving their never-before-seen images and scientific information on Earth, propelling our understanding of the universe, our solar system and ultimately, our place within it.

      As a senior software developer, you will be reporting to the Mission Assurance and Program Integration (MAPI) Manager and external customers. You will be responsible for designing solutions, directing a team of software engineers, and developing capabilities to support customer missions. In an agile and fast paced environment, you will work with the customer to identify needs, translate those needs into actionable work, and guide a team of skilled software developers and participate in turning whiteboard concepts into reality.

      Responsibilities:

      • Participate in the research, recommendations, and architecture discussions that contribute to the overall DSN O&M Program Office vision.
      • You’ll be the technical/development lead for DSN O&M Program MAPI applications and tool suite.
      • Document client requirements, system architectures, test plans, and test cases.
      • You’ll develop software design artifacts to capture high level design elements.
      • You’ll create work structures for a team of software developers in the form of agile user stories.
      • You’ll support software development/completion of user stories.
      • Work with the development team to verify and validate changes to the system, and ensure that requirements are being met, troubleshoot test and production issues, and support system upgrades.
      • Follow software and engineering best practices and customer processes.
      • Develop cutting edge custom client/server applications.

      Qualifications

      Required Qualifications:

      • 5 years of experience with BS/BA; 3 years with MS/MA; 0 years with PhD. 4 years of relevant experience will be considered in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree.
      • 3-5 years leading a software development team.
      • Experience with information system operation and sustainment.
      • Experience with relational database design/implementation.
      • Have a comprehensive understanding of both the waterfall and agile life cycles.
      • Experience with general Web Development (HTML, JavaScript, CSS), C# .NET Framework, PHP, Visual Basic, ASP.NET, Microsoft IIS, Jira, React / Angular, NodeJS, Containerization.

      SECURITY CLEARANCE:

      This position requires the candidate to be able to obtain a trusted background check and pass a National Criminal Information Check (NCIC). In order to obtain a clearance you need to be a US Citizen and show proof of citizenship.

      Preferred Qualifications :

      • 2-5 years working in Java and understand service-based design.
      • 1-3 years working in JavaScript frameworks such as React.
      • Experience testing, supporting, and deploying systems/software at a government site.
      • Ability to anticipate problems and take decisive action.
      • Ability to find innovative ways to solve problems.
      • Experience working within a rigorous engineering process e.g. CMMI Level III or greater and employing engineering best practices.
      • Have worked in Cloud-based development environments.

      Target Salary Range

      $86,000 - $138,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
