      The Role

      This position is responsible for business-getting for the New York Jewellery department, utilizing subject matter expertise and client relationships on a worldwide basis. This role will cultivate Private Sales initiatives for the Americas as well as source property for sale, pitch competitive deals, and maintain profitability on behalf of the Jewellery department.

      Specific duties & responsibilities will include but are not limited to

      Business Getting & Client Development

      • Act as a senior specialist for Jewellery Department, serving as a lead business getter and securing property for the New York auctions, as well as our regional sites of Geneva and Hong Kong as necessary.

      • Establish and cultivate long term relationships with novice and seasoned jewellery collectors. Meet with clients on-site and off-site, traveling when appropriate; attend events, exhibitions, and fairs.

      • Champion Business and Object Intelligence initiatives in order to identify significant auction and private sale opportunities and improve major client relationships for those that collect cross-categorically.

      • Liaise with the Estates, Appraisals & Valuations department, working on appraisals as a means of generating new long-term business opportunities and reconnecting with inactive clients.

      • Stay abreast of market changes including competitor house analysis and secondary market dealers.

      Strategy

      • Partner with the management team to develop business contacts and strategic opportunities.

      • Negotiate competitive deals that are both compelling to the seller and financially sound for the company.

      • Work with department Specialists and Business Management team to develop and explore potential single-owner auction projects and./or revenue-generating private selling exhibitions.

      Expertise

      • Advise departmental Specialists on expertise, strategic pricing, cataloguing, research, client relationships and standards of client service

      • Continue to follow existing processes and approval matrix for structuring and negotiating deals.

      • Participate and lead vetting sessions and pricing meetings

      • Participate in targeted marketing efforts and work with buyers prior to and during sale week to pre-sell the sale.

      The Candidate

      • 10+years of demonstrated expertise in Jewellery and/or secondary Luxury market business-getting, with in depth understanding of market trends, pricing, and jewellery evaluation

      • Demonstrated knowledge of domestic and international client relationship management

      • Ability to lead by example and motivate a team, and work cross-functionally in a large organization

      • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including superior written and spoken communication.

      • Discretion and the ability to work with confidential information

      • Ability and willingness to travel both domestically and internationally to generate and win business as well as support auctions.

      Compensation Range

      Salary: $100,000.00 - $125,000.00
