- Demonstrates a consultative and collaborative value-added approach in client conversations, acting as a member of a client strategy team to facilitate optimal client experience.
- Must be able to integrate as seamlessly as possible with different Client Strategy Teams within the Private Bank from the first client meeting; must be adept at weaving the Planner role into each Client Strategy Team so the client does not see the Planner as an “add on” but rather a logical well-honed member of the Client Strategy Team.
- Applies well-developed consultative sales and wealth planning principles, practices and techniques in client interactions.
- Acts as the face of Private Bank Wealth Planning to implement its model and offerings.
- Acts as a subject matter expert in area(s) of wealth planning to properly assess and provide insights and solutions to clients.
- Leverages financial analysis in the development of detailed and complex financial plans where appropriate.
- Consults with clients and their external advisors on complex issues as needed.
- Provides commentary and awareness on emerging trends and new legislation through articles, case laws, and advanced planning solutions.
- Develops content in the area(s) of specialized planning for use as training material, internal resource material and client-facing material.
- Leads/participates in the development/presentation of educational programs in the area(s) of specialized planning within BMO and to clients.
- Develops/maintains internal and external networks and referral sources to ensure ongoing growth of the business.
- May network with industry contacts to gain competitive insights and best practices.
- Protects the Bank’s assets by adhering to all banking and investment regulations, Bank policies and procedures, legal and ethical requirements and regulations, process requirements, and established risk guidelines.
- Operates at a group/enterprise-wide level and serves as a specialist resource to senior leaders and stakeholders.
- Applies expertise and thinks creatively to address unique or ambiguous situations and to find solutions to problems that can be complex and non-routine.
- Implements changes in response to shifting trends.
- Broader work or accountabilities may be assigned as needed.
- CFP - Certified Financial Planning Certification.
- Typically between 5 - 9 years of relevant experience and a University Degree in relevant field of study.
- Post-graduate degree is desirable.
- Relevant professional designation is considered an asset.
- Experience dealing with HNW/UHNW clients.
- Proven track record in developing and growing a profitable financial or related client services business.
- Extensive knowledge and technical proficiency related to wealth planning strategies, issues and trends.
- Broad knowledge of financial institutions, services and products.
- Broad knowledge of investment management principles, economics and financial markets.
- Seasoned professional with a combination of education, experience and industry knowledge.

Face of the BMO US Private Bank Wealth Planning Group model and Wealth Planning offerings; acts as a gate keeper to process and discuss requests from the Private Wealth Advisors consistent with that model, and to decision how to engage with client in a manner that significantly contributes to the client experience.
Contributes to the client experience and leverages knowledge as a subject matter expert in wealth planning services for High Net Worth / Ultra High Net Worth (HNW/UHNW) clients who collaboratively advises clients on their finances, loved ones and charitable & legacy wishes. Partners collaboratively with BMO Private Bank Client Strategy Teams led by Private Wealth Advisors to listen to clients and to provide clients with wealth planning advice and potential strategies encompassing any one or more of a wide array of disciplines including financial planning, estate & trust planning, business succession planning, philanthropic, executive compensation planning. Supports the growth and retention of HNW/UHNW client assets. Contributes to enhancing the client and BMO Advisor experience thus driving increased profitability, improved share of wallet and Net Promoter Scores.
Facilitates/participates in goals-based discovery process directly with clients, and ensures standards relative to data capture and plan creation are met thereafter to maintain effective knowledge management within business/group.
Qualifications:
Annual base salary: $96,300 - $200,000. The base salary range represents the anticipated low and high end of the BMO Financial Group's salary range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as skill, experience and qualification for the role. This position is also eligible for a bonus plan.
The base salary and potential bonus is one component of BMO Financial Group's total compensation package for employees. Compensation and Benefits:
$87,500.00 - $125,000.00The base salary represents BMO Financial Group’s hiring range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as location, skills, experience, and qualification for the role. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked.
Base salary is one component of BMO Financial Group’s total compensation package for employees, which may include performance-based incentives, commissions or discretionary bonuses, as well as other perks and rewards.
