      Job Summary

      The Server-Storage Analyst provides full level of specialization in the planning, development, implementation, configuration, administration, testing, monitoring, reporting and support of existing and new systems, and changes in the areas of operational Server, Storage, Data Protection and Security technologies both on premises and externally hosted. The incumbent is expected to have knowledge in one or many of the following technologies: server operating systems, virtualization technologies, Unified Computing System (UCS), high availability technologies, storage, data protection and Security technologies.

      Key Accountabilities:

      • Involved in the design, development, implementation, optimization and testing of Server, Storage and Datacenter implementations.
      • Reviews and evaluates the operational viability of enhancements or changes to the server, storage, and data protection Infrastructure.
      • Participates in the orchestration and automation of server installation and configuration automation.
      • Recommends acceptance or rejection of requests for change while ensuring the best possible measures are in place related to technical requirements for infrastructure, networking connectivity and security best practices while ensuring current and future interoperability with NAV CANADA system infrastructure.
      • Provides advice to internal clients on functional requirements, such as standards and other components related to security, policies, configuration and setting compliancy.
      • Provides guidance and expertise to clients in the resolution of interrelated operational deployment of system software, applications and shared infrastructure service problems while ensuring maintenance of performance standards.
      • Validates and contributes to the development, writing and maintenance of technical documentation, including architecture and design documents, test scripts and results, requirements, implementation plans, maintenance and support documents and end-user instructions.
      • Schedules and performs regular preventive system maintenance including upgrades and / or patching to address security vulnerabilities and / or operational enhancements.
      • Supports asset and configuration management processes and procedures.
      • Responsible for identifying and “patching” any security weaknesses they may find and making recommendations for security hardware and software.
      • May act as technical / team lead for various operations in own functional area for moderately complex to complex projects to implement new applications and / or change management projects.

      Job Requirements

      Education:

      • Graduated from a recognized university or college with a degree/certification in Engineering, Computer Sciences/Information Technology, Business Administration, MBA and/or Aviation and at least 5 years related experience OR an acceptable combination of education, related experience, and training.

      Experience:

      • Experience in technology related to the systems and applications under the position responsibility.
      • Experience in Operational Technology and/or Information Technology (IT) Servers and Storage.
      • Experience providing functional and technical support for software and systems and a strong understanding of the underlying technical and business environment, processes, and workflows.
      • Experience providing subject matter expertise and lifecycle support in Server infrastructure.
      • Experience in the design, implementation, testing and support of Server infrastructure.
      • Experience troubleshooting complex interrelated infrastructure issues.
      • Experience creating and maintaining technical documentation.
      • Experience developing and maintaining communications related to support, changes and enhancements to Server, Storage and Data Protection infrastructure.
      • Experience with traditional and agile project management frameworks, Change Management, quality management, patch management, and life-cycle processes and guidelines.
      • Experience using office productivity tools.
      • Experience with Azure DevOps would be considered an asset.
      • Experience with Power Automate Flow would be considered an asset.

      Knowledge:

      • Industry trends, development practices and leading-edge technologies.
      • Knowledge of the design, support, life-cycle and industry trends for Server and datacenter hardware, firmware, and operating systems.
      • Hyperconverged technology.
      • Knowledge of hypervisor technologies (vSphere, ESXi, vCenter, AHV, etc.).
      • Knowledge of infrastructure and system configuration, management tools and technologies.
      • Knowledge of lifecycle and change management.

      • Provide expert advice, guidance, and opinions in area of specialization, through knowledge sharing, coaching, mentoring and creative thinking.
      • Lead moderately complex projects as required.

      Working conditions:

      • Occasional Travel required.
      • This position is based at Ottawa Logistics Centre but may be eligible for a flexible work arrangement.
