- Developed physical skills with a need for accuracy to undertake for example: Venepuncture, Administration of local anaesthetic, Insertion of contraceptive implant

- Current 1st level NMC registration
- Degree in nursing studies or relevant clinical degree (UK equivalent)
- Practice assessor training or demonstrable equivalent experience
- Recognised competency-based qualifications in integrated sexual health e.g., Management of Sexually Transmitted Infections and Contraception in Practice, or Integrated Sexual Health Module, or equivalent
- Evidence of competency achievement in Sub-dermal implant insertion and removal or willingness to complete.
- Evidence of Cervical cytology qualification or willingness to complete.
- Non-medical prescribing or willingness to complete.
- Previous clinical experience of working within an integrated sexual health setting.
- Experience of leading a team or experience of supervising junior staff
- Evidence of innovation in practice
- Evidence of practice development
- Awareness of national health and social care policy
- Knowledge of best practice in sexual and reproductive health
- Knowledge of current issues relating to health service provision and the public health agenda
- Ability to practice confidentially within legal frameworks and policies.
- Clinical teaching experience
- Ability to provide and receive complex, sensitive or contentious information, where persuasive, motivational, negotiating, training, empathic or reassurance skills are required.
- Able to work without supervision.
- Competent in the use of IT packages
- Proven interpersonal skills.
- Termination of pregnancy decision making and referral skills

Job summary
South Tyneside and Gateshead sexual heath team has an exciting opportunity for a passionate and committed sexual health nurse practitioner. This part time role (30 hours) will be predominantly based within the community sexual health clinic at Palmers Community Hospital, however, to meet service need, the post holder may also be required to work from the Sexual Health service at Trinity Square Gateshead. We are looking for a candidate who has demonstrable experience of working as a nurse within an integrated sexual health service and is competent, working within agreed guidelines to sensitively manage the patient journey.
We are a friendly, community based, multi-disciplinary team, committed to delivering high quality, integrated sexual health care for the local population. The post holder will work as part of the wider sexual health team and will be required to liaise with the clinical colleagues regularly to support effective running of the clinic and provide an excellent service for our patients.
Main duties of the job
The sexual health service is part of the community directorate within South Tyneside and Sunderland Foundation Trust.
The successful candidate will be a registered nurse with the NMC, with evidence of previous experience working within an integrated sexual health setting,
To coordinate the delivery and development of the sexual health service through the use of effective evidence based practice in line within agreed national and local guidelines,
Working within clinical guidelines to manage episodes of care in both sexual & reproductive healthcare and genitourinary medicine.
Maintain and respect strict confidentiality standards for service users
Maintain a sensitive and non-judgemental approach when working with service users
The post holder will be required to work evening and weekend duties as part of a monthly roster.
The post holder will be required to travel to outreach clinic locations and for meetings as necessary.
Able to work effectively as part of the wider sexual health team and demonstrate excellent communication skills.
