      Job summary

      We are excited to invite applications for a Band 6 Sister/Charge nurse to join our busy Adult Cardiac Critical Care Unit (ACCU) at St Bartholomew's Hospital Heart Centre. This is a unique opportunity to rotate across three critical care units, each caring for a diverse range of patients, including:

      • Post-operative cardiothoracic and thoracic patients

      • Heart Attack Centre patients

      • Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) patients

      • Vascular patients

      • Cancer patients

      This role will involve shift patterns of long days, nights and bank holidays to meet the service requirements of the ACCU

      Main duties of the job

      - Assess, plan, provide, and evaluate skilled evidence-based care for critically ill patients (L2 & L3). Ensuring quality care and patient safety are paramount.

      - Support and develop colleagues by mentoring and assessing their skills.

      - Takes charge of the unit, ensuring patient safety and in depth clinical knowledge and supporting the bedside nurses.

      - Promote practice development within Critical Care.

      - Fulfil Local/Trust requirements in specified audit or project work.

      - Maintain a safe working environment, complying with Health and Safety regulations, Environmental Health Act, and attending mandatory training.

      - Provide highly skilled support to medical staff and other members of the multidisciplinary team.

      - Work in conjunctions with your seniors in quality improvement projects across the unit

      -Work with senior line manager to deputise and manage team members
