      Job Summary:

      The Social Media Strategist is a skilled and dynamic addition to the Office of Strategic Marketing and Communications who manages our social media strategies across multiple platforms, fostering a robust online presence by creating engaging and authentic content that aligns with the University’s values, mission, and strategic goals. This role involves managing the University’s primary social media channels (Facebook, X, LinkedIn, and Instagram), creating and curating compelling content, engaging with followers, and leading social media campaigns to expand reach and drive results. The Strategist will collaborate with other social media managers across campus, ensuring brand compliance and appropriate content, and work closely with the other Strategic Marketing and Communications team members.

      Major Duties and Responsibilities:

      Essential:

      Social Media Strategy and Campaign Management:

      • Develop, manage, and execute paid and organic social media advertising campaigns.

      • Design and optimize impactful campaigns to achieve KPIs and maximize ROI.

      • Create and implement content and communication plans consistent with overall strategy.

      • Manage a detailed editorial calendar for consistent posting across all platforms.

      • Oversee social media channels, including Facebook, X, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, TikTok and Threads.

      Content Creation and Management

      • Create original and compelling content for both paid and organic campaigns.

      • Craft engaging and impactful content to foster connection with audiences through compelling storytelling.

      • Manage a content calendar to ensure regular updates.

      • Collaborate with the marketing and communications team to produce high-quality videos, photos, and blog posts.

      • Oversee creative design elements, including graphics and cover images.

      Performance Tracking and Analysis:

      • Measure and track the success of campaigns to inform future projects.

      • Analyze metrics, ratings, and web visits to optimize ad campaigns.

      • Track, analyze, and report engagement metrics to understand audience behavior and optimize content strategy.

      • Monitor trends in social media tools, applications, channels, design, and strategy.

      • Engage with current trends to enhance the brand’s online presence and engagement.

      • Lead audits of social media audiences to determine the best content for each platform.

      Community Engagement:

      • Interact and engage with followers to build a strong online community.

      • Actively respond to comments, messages, and inquiries professionally and kindly.

      • Monitor social media channels to identify and address negative feedback.

      • Attend and cover university events, providing real-time updates, live streaming, and capturing photos and videos for social media use.

      Collaboration and Consultation:

      • Cultivate strong relationships with students, faculty, and staff to identify content opportunities.

      • Provide strategic social media consultation and guidance for executives and key decision-makers.

      • Work in collaboration with other social media content producers across the university.

      • Collaborate with different departments to support their social media needs and promote initiatives.

      Team Management:

      • Oversee and train student employees responsible for content creation, mascot management, and other related tasks.

      Minimum Qualifications:

      Education:

      • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education in communications, marketing, or a related field.

      Experience:

      • +1 years of experience in social media marketing (preference in higher education environment)

      • Proven expertise in social media strategy, content creation, and channel management.

      • Copywriting and editing skills for diverse audiences.

      • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite for creating and editing images, graphics, and videos.

      • Experience with analytics tools for tracking and reporting performance metrics.

      • Familiarity with social media management platforms like Hootsuite.

      • Excellent communication, both written and verbal, and analytical skills.

      • Ability to work collaboratively and independently, managing multiple projects.

      • Creative and adaptable to new trends and technologies.

      WORKING CONDITIONS:

      Working conditions are normal for an office environment. Work may require occasional weekend and/or evening work. In addition, some local, regional, and/or national travel may be required.
