Req#: RC689188POSITION OVERVIEW: Develop, support and guide transportation teams in execution and business practices, which optimize business plan performance and on-time service initiatives. Research, develop and implement new concepts, processes or reporting tools necessary to operate an efficient transportation network. Support transportation management through daily reporting/research and serve as liaison for transportation regarding departmental projects ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Mentor lower-level employees and provide counsel to Service Centers on Transportation policy and movement as an SME for the entire network coverage, ensuring compliance with business plan of the network 2. Effectively educate service centers and drivers of policies and procedures outlined in driver’s manual while ensuring compliance of all applicable laws/regulations 3. Identify opportunities to reduce company or purchased transportation schedules based on daily fluctuations in tonnage while maintaining service and efficiency goals. Provide analysis and recommendations for long term alteration to plan and communicate to network engineering 4. Collaborate with Network Engineering, Equipment and Safety on efficiencies in the network 5. Create ad-hoc reports, which assist transportation management in identifying areas that need improvement through data and statistical analysis 6. Coordinate with operations and planners regarding alternate line haul plans caused by network disruption. Document and communicate alternate plan(s) to transportation leadership, operations and other appropriate functions. Work directly with equipment control to place all new equipment 7. Schedule, coordinate and manage cross operating company schedules needed throughout the enterprise network. 8. Work with FXF operations on driver resource management and planners to fulfill request 9. Comply with all applicable laws/regulations, as well as company policies/procedures 10. QUALIFICATIONS: • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience plus five (5) years of experience in operations, logistics/transportation or distribution/warehouse • Comprehensive understanding with Federal Department of Transportation (D.O.T.) and hazardous materials rules and regulations • Familiar with computer languages and tools (SAS, QMF) • Direct knowledge and understanding of line-haul and hub system, freight movement, lane balance and bid processes • Comprehensive knowledge of various operations computer systems • Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Office suite • Strong leadership, problem solving, analysis, time management, organizational and interpersonal skills • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills • Strong communication skills (written and verbal) • Ability to work independently and as a team member WORKING CONDITIONS: • Hours my vary due to linehaul and operational needs FedEx Freight is an Equal Opportunity Employer, including disabled and veterans.
