What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Obtain authorizations for surgical procedures, diagnostic testing, medications, DME, outgoing referrals, and other services
- Monitor schedules, system reports, and dashboards to identify appointments and procedures requiring authorization
- Verify insurance eligibility and benefits, update patient information, and complete referrals and prior authorizations
- Communicate effectively with patients, physicians, office staff, and managers to resolve issues and ensure timely authorization requests
- Utilize electronic tools and systems to manage referrals and authorizations, run reports, and document necessary information
What is Required (Qualifications):
- High School Graduate/GED required
- 2-4 years of related experience preferred
- Keen understanding of medical insurance and clinical policies related to authorizations
- Proficiency in using standard office equipment and technology, including Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Experience in ENT authorizations
- Vocational/Technical School/Diploma Program completion
- Familiarity with Athena Collector and insurance benefit terms and processes
- Experience with requesting and preparing supporting documentation for authorizations
- Knowledge of investigation of authorization denials and appeals
