- To assist the Director of Pharmacy and other Pharmacy Managers in the provision of a comprehensive pharmacy service across the Trust.
- Work as a member of the Multidisciplinary Team to deliver patient-centred, up to date, evidence based pharmaceutical care for patients.
- To promote the safe, rational, effective and economic use of drugs used across the Trust, in line with the Medicines Optimisation and Pharmacy Services Strategy.
- To carry out clinical validation of appropriate prescriptions in line with criteria/ protocols.
- Supporting the education and training to facilitate medicines optimisation training for trainee pharmacists, trainee technicians, technicians and pharmacy support workers within the speciality.
- To line manage staff as appropriate.
- Registrant of General Pharmaceutical Council.
- BTEC in Pharmaceutical Science or NVQ Level 3 in Pharmacy Services or A GPhC recognised equivalent qualification.
- BTEC Level 4 Professional Diploma in Pharmacy Clinical Services or ability to work towards or extensive experience of working in a relevant specialist clinical area.
- Management training at a foundation level.
- Accredited Checking Technician qualification.
- Coaching/Leadership qualification.
- Extensive Medicines Optimisation experience in a clinical setting within cancer services.
- Evidence of post registration CPD.
- Knowledge of clinical practice and experience of medication history taking.
- Understanding of relevant NHS/government policy.
- Experience of Managing change.
- Knowledge of dealing with complaints and Incident/ error reporting.
- Extensive post qualification experience in hospital at Pharmacy Technician higher level.
- Experience of service development or project management.
- Experience of working in a variety of areas within the department.
- Understanding of budget management.
- Health & Safety experience.
- Experience of writing procedures.
- Incident and error investigation.
- Experience of clinical validation of prescriptions.

Mid Yorkshire Teaching Trust Pharmacy Department have an exciting opportunity for a qualified Pharmacy Technician looking to take the next step in their career.

Leading and developing a clinical technician service. Provision of a level of advanced and comprehensive patient assessment based on specialist knowledge and provision of comprehensive pharmaceutical care.
Managing an agreed caseload of patients.
Undertaking focused medicines use review for appropriate patients including clinical validation of appropriate prescriptions.
Screening patients notes and identification of medicines related issues and opportunities.
Working independently to solve medication related queries.
Appropriately referring to a pharmacist or clinician when personal competence level is reached.
In agreed areas developing a technician led clinical pharmacy service.
Undertaking medication histories, medicines reconciliation, therapeutic drug monitoring, compliance assessments and therapeutic interventions.
Supporting Advanced clinical pharmacists with all aspects of medicines optimisation within their assigned speciality
Supporting the education and training team to facilitate medicines optimisation training for trainee pharmacists, trainee technicians, technicians and pharmacy support workers within their speciality.
Investigate medication and pharmacy related datixs within their clinical speciality and create robust action plans to address any deficiencies. They will work clinically within a specialist area and support training of all staff in that speciality.
Managing and co-ordinating the medicines optimisation team within their assigned speciality to optimise medicines reconciliation, medication reviews and discharge planning if required to do so.
Effectively communicate with senior managers/ directors, healthcare professionals (Pharmacy staff, nurses, AHPs, doctors, other prescribers and other support workers), service users and carers within and outside the Trust.
Liaise with the Lead Pharmacists & Specialist Pharmacy Technicians in the preparation of working rotas for medicines optimisation technicians and support workers if required to do so.
Interpret complex data or information that requires analysis to inform decisions/ action, produce reports or respond to queries.
Contribute to the development of Key Performance Indicators, along with their ongoing monitoring and benchmarking.
Use data to identify trends and emerging themes in order to take appropriate action to maintain or improve service quality.
Capable of sustained mental effort in an environment, which calls for frequent interruptions and be, expected to maintain concentration whilst switching from one task to another more urgent one.
To participate in action planning resulting from Internal Audits.
To implement and participate in departmental audits and to act upon the results.
To design, develop and implement projects which will review or redesign the services provided.
Contribute to the continued development of long-term operational service plans.
In conjunction with Pharmacy Technician Team Manager & Advanced Clinical Pharmacists undertake effective skill mixing within own area of responsibility to ensure service delivery is both efficient and effective.
Responsible for the accurate recording and/ or transfer of individual patient clinical and/ or medication information, either written or verbal, to other healthcare professionals and outside suppliers, using approved systems and processes and acting in accordance with Information Governance requirements.
Participate in evening, weekend & bank holidays rotas.
Undertake any other duties commensurate with the post holders grade as agreed with their line manager, Associate Director of Pharmacy or Director of Pharmacy.
The post holder will assist in providing pharmacy services and carry out dispensary/aseptic duties when required for the needs of the service.
