      MPFT are delighted to invite a HCPC registered Dietitian to apply for this new Band 6 Mental Health Dietitian role to support the delivery of nutritional care within the inpatient mental health service at the Redwoods Centre. This role covers working age adults and older adults wards. This role provides an exciting opportunity for service improvement and is suitable for either an established Band 5 wishing to progress in their career, or a Band 6 looking for new upskilling opportunities in mental health dietetics.

      You will be primarily based at The Redwoods Centre, Shrewsbury with the opportunity for blended working including working from home.

      The Redwoods Dietetic Team focuses on the areas of Enteral Feeding, Nutrition Support, Refeeding Management, Disordered Eating, Diabetes & Weight Management in Mental Health inpatient wards.

      We are offering a great opportunity for a role with a focus on the development of dietetic skills in mental health. We offer the post holder an opportunity to work closely with the inpatient multi-disciplinary teams supporting the physical health agenda for people with a mental health diagnosis, such as dementia, severe mental illness, depression and anxiety, providing expert advice to MDT colleagues on dietetic needs such as refeeding syndrome. The role will also have the opportunity to build leadership skills by providing support and supervision for allied health assistants and dietetic assistant practitioners as required.

      Main duties of the job

      • To provide a clinical dietetic service as requested by the Lead Dietitian, providing advice on management, planning and development of dietetic treatment programmes to service users and health professionals.
      • Demonstrate at all times the Partnership Trust Values.
      • Be a Dietitian and have a professional and clinical knowledge of their discipline.
      • Assessing patient's nutritional status and requirements and giving dietary advice/recommendations including use of supplements and enteral feeding as required.
      • To participate in staff training and give lectures/talks to other groups as requested by the Lead Dietitian.
      • Provide Training to Students, Ward and therapy staff as required
      • To produce or review diet sheets and nutritional resources as required, in line with current guidelines and evidence based practice.
      • To collect and input statistical information as required within agreed timescales.
      • To take accountability for allocated assessments, planning and implementation of dietary plans / programmes of support within their caseload.
