      Job summary

      We are looking for Specialist Occupational Therapists to join the Devon-wide Specialist Health Community Learning Disability Service working with adults, in a number of locations;

      • Permanent full time substantive position in our East MDT - based in Honiton - with a requirement to work across the cluster into our Exeter MDT.
      • Permanent full time substantive position in our Mid MDT - based from Crediton & Okehampton Hospitals - with a requirement to work across the cluster into our North MDT.
      • Permanent half time substantive position in our Mid MDT - based from Crediton & Okehampton Hospitals - with a requirement to work across the cluster into our North MDT.
      • Permanent half time substantive position based in the South East MDT - based from Newton Abbot - with a requirement to work across the cluster into our South West MDT.

      These exciting new posts have become available following service restructuring, supporting career progression.

      Main duties of the job

      We are looking for an imaginative, creative and enthusiastic Occupational Therapist to work with people with learning disabilities who are experiencing additional distress and have complex needs. The post holder will focus on assessing and providing specialist Occupational Therapy interventions and/or consultation to support people to be an active member of their home and local community, promoting engagement in meaningful occupations and development of capable environments to maximise health and well-being.

      The post holder will have experience of managing a specialist caseload of adults with severe and complex learning disabilities who have additional health needs in a variety of community settings, utilising evidence based care pathways and risk assessment as part of the MDT care plan.

      The post holder will have an interest in sensory processing assessment and treatment and experience in utilising specialist evidence based assessment and outcome measurement. Where required we will support clinicians to undertake necessary training to develop these skills.

      The post holder will provide management and clinical supervision to junior Occupational Therapy staff based within the team including students and apprentices. Therapists are encouraged to be innovative and motivated in contributing to the leadership and development of the Learning Disability Occupational Therapy service.

      Due to the large geographical area of work suitable access to transport will be required.
