- Masters degree in pharmacy or equivalent
- Higher degree/Diploma in clinical pharmacy (or equivalent experience)
- Registration with General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
- Independent prescribing qualification
- Specialist clinical knowledge and skills relevant to the area of practice, or demonstration of an ability to develop a highly specialist knowledge in a therapeutic area
- Expert clinical knowledge and skills relevant to area of practice, or demonstrated ability to do so
- Knowledge of and ability to apply all aspects of regulatory legislation and guidelines
- Previous relevant clinical experience
- Experience of working with healthcare professions outside of pharmacy
- Proven experience of delivering responsibilities and objectives to time
- Experience in providing and receiving highly complex and contentious information
- Demonstrable collaborative leadership skills
- Demonstrates ability to identify problems, analyse root cause and propose solutions for complex problems
- Able to solve difficult and ambiguous problems by advanced reasoning and sound technical judgement
- Advanced IT skills - including word, excel, email and PowerPoint

To be responsible for providing and overseeing the pharmacy clinical service provided to the cardiology (including respiratory) wards within the hospital
Carry out education and counselling of new patients at the start of newly started high risk medicines.
Ensures the provision of a proactive, high quality, cost effective, safe and responsive service to cardiorespiratory wards.
To actively develop the cardiology pharmacy service, exploring opportunities for clinically advanced services, such as review of patients in clinic.
To provide a clinical ward pharmacy service to the cardiology ward and lead on the education and training of other members of pharmacy and MDT in the pharmaceutical management of these patients.
Check the clinical accuracy and appropriateness of prescriptions for patients
To ensure the appropriate ordering of medicines for cardiology (including respiratory) patients to ensure medicines are available for patients and to minimise wastage from unused or expired medicines.
Attend the board rounds and MDTs where applicable within specialist medicine, providing expert pharmaceutical advice.
To actively lead on efficiency savings within cardiology/respiratory department.
To support with the screening of Homecare prescriptions.
To be the pharmacy department liaison within cardiology/respiratory department.
To identify and implement opportunities for the efficient use of medicines in cardiology/respiratory.
To support with the late night, weekend and bank holiday rota as part of the departments 7 day services.
To develop a personal audit and research portfolio.
