What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Review inpatient medical records to accurately identify diagnoses and procedures, assigning the correct ICD-10 CM/PCS codes
- Enter coded information using the 3M 360 Encompass system to ensure accurate MS-DRG or APR-DRG assignment
- Collaborate with the Clinical Documentation Integrity team to recommend physician queries for incomplete or ambiguous documentation
- Maintain coding accuracy and productivity standards, following up on bill holds and deferred claims
- Participate in team meetings to enhance functional excellence and prepare compliant physician queries

What is Required (Qualifications):
- Associate degree in health information technology or successful completion of a coding certification program
- Coding certification from AHIMA or AAPC is required
- 3-5 years of experience in a coding-related field
- Strong understanding of clinical documentation criteria relevant to coding, including medical terminology and disease processes
- Proficient in navigating electronic medical records and regulatory requirements

- Experience with EMR systems and knowledge of MS-DRG and APR-DRG reimbursement systems
- Strong writing, organizational, and communication skills
