      About the Position


      A Senior Instructional Designer leads projects from intake to deployment, including end-to-end program design, production, editing, and building in an LMS, and is accountable for consulting with business leaders to ensure effective course design, development, and meeting overall project timelines. Train, mentor and coach instructional designers as needed.

      What You’ll Do

      1. Design, develop and implement innovative and creative learning solutions, using a variety of methods (e.g., backward design) and tools, participate in needs assessment based on research and data collection to ensure materials address learner needs and close performance gaps.

      2. Adhere to best-in-class instructional design processes that produces effective, high-quality, innovative and creative materials in an efficient manner; evaluate materials to ensure conformance with established University policies, practices, and standards, as well as instructional alignment and appropriate styles, standards and specifications to achieve established program outcomes.

      3. Use multiple measures of student learning outcomes to formulate recommendations for course and program improvement; present research findings and recommendations to management and/or curriculum review committee as needed or requested; and participate in the development, implementation and evaluation of student assessment activities.

      4. Assist with large scale, complex, strategic projects for the department through effective work prioritization and project management; brainstorm with leadership on strategy and vision and participate in cross-functional workgroups; research and apply emerging learning technologies and concepts to educational initiatives; work independently with minimum direction to take projects successfully from inception to implementation.

      5. Apply knowledge of learning theories and application of best practice for course design, pedagogy, technology integration, and assessment (summative and formative assessments, rubric development, CSLO alignment, and appropriate leveling via Bloom’s taxonomy).

      6. C reat e , build, and publish in learning management systems (BbU; BS) .

      7. Apply a range of current learning technologies , including an a bility to effectively integrate these learning technologies to develop and enhance course design and delivery .

      8. D esign, creat e and edit video.

      9. Create and build in authoring tools ( e.g., WordPress, Rise, and Storyline) .

      10. Apply a ccessibi lity requirements and utilize accessibility tools .

      11. Function successfully on an agile team with sometimes shifting priorities.

      12. Mentor and coach team members on proper instructional design techniques to improve overall quality and productivity; plan, develop, and facilitate learning sessions on emerging technology and course development trends.

      13. Maintain professional and technical knowledge through current research and attending educational workshops.

      14. Conduct research and data analysis to support and improve instructional design practices.

      MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:


      • Bachelor’s Degree in instructional design or related area


      • Four (4) years of experience in instructional design


      • Detailed knowledge of adult learning, instructional design and distance learning theories, and methodologies

      PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:


      • Master’s degree in instructional design or related area


      • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office applications


      • Proficient knowledge of various eLearning tools


      • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong attention to detail, superior organizational skills, client management skills, self-direction, and motivation


      • Ability to handle multiple complex projects


      • Ability to listen and respond to internal customer needs in a timely manner


      • Manage time effectively to complete projects and meet deadlines


      • Creative and concise writing ability


      • Confident, collaborative, curious, discerning, flexible and results-driven; consultative orientation and process/project management capability


      • Ability to provide advanced instructional design consulting services

      Pay Range

      The annual pay range for this position is $63,200 (minimum), $95,500 (midpoint), and $127,800 (maximum).*

      *Typical hiring range is between the minimum and midpoint of the above pay range. Actual starting base pay may vary based on factors such as education, experience, skills, location and budget.
