      As directed by the Quality Manager, the Sr. Quality Engineer is accountable for supporting continuous improvement and Cost of Poor Quality Initiatives in the Manufacturing plant. This person will handle projects and tasks from quality improvement identification through effectiveness monitoring and play an active role in the processes to ensure products and processes meet quality standards consistent with both corporate and regulatory requirements. They will also help develop strategy, facilitate kaizen events, and lead communication and culture efforts.

      PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

      • Consistent application of technical principles, theories, concepts, and quality sciences / tools.

      • Analyze and interpret inspection and process data to identify and prevent quality problems and identify continuous improvement opportunities.

      • Makes measurable improvements to BD processes and procedures

      • Support manufacturing and quality process improvement projects as an effective team member or leader using Continuous Improvement and Six Sigma tools.

      • Comply with all local BD quality policies, procedures, and practices through consistent application of sound quality assurance principles.

      • Is a team member representing Quality on operations initiatives and continuous improvement projects.

      • Assists with supplier and internal quality system audits as a means of evaluating the effectiveness of the established Quality System and Good manufacturing Practices

      • May perform other duties as required

      POSITION “SPECIFIC” OVERVIEW

      Support the implementation of continuous improvement activities while ensuring product quality and regulatory compliance Analyze and interpret inspection and process data to identify and prevent quality problems and continuous improvement opportunities. Responsible for facilitating quality and manufacturing kaizen events Responsible for data analysis of in-process issues and customer complaints to identify continuous improvement opportunities Support manufacturing and quality process improvement projects as an effective team member or leader using Continuous Improvement and Six Sigma tools. Develop working knowledge of applicable regulatory, Corporate, and/or Unit requirements. Facilitate Executive Steering Committee for Plant Quality Organization Provide audit support for customer and regulatory audits (preparation, closure, etc.) Communicates across functions / departments for assigned areas of responsibility. Comply with all local, state, federal, and BD Safety regulations, policies, and procedures including RCRA Hazardous waste regulations. Comply with all local BD quality policies, procedures, and practices through consistent application of sound quality assurance principles.

      EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

      • Applied knowledge of applicable regulatory, Corporate and / or Unit requirements.

      • Class II / III medical device experience (preferred)

      • Knowledge of six sigma methodology (preferred)

      • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles (preferred)

      • Typically requires a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree

      • A minimum of 5 years relevant experience or a combination of equivalent education and relevant experience.
