      SRT Officer

      SUMMARY

      SAHARA Las Vegas Hotel and Casino is recruiting highly motivated and knowledgeable individuals to be a part of our Special Response Team. This is an armed position that will add to the overall preparedness of the existing security team. Candidates will provide the most responsive, knowledgeable, and courteous service by protecting our guests, team members, and assets through deterrence of and response to critical incidents. Best candidates will have prior law enforcement or military experience.

      ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following, but are not limited to,

      • Promote a safe environment for hotel guests, team members, and visitors through keen observation
      • Stand stationary/mobile posts inside/outside the hotel as directed by the supervisor, Director of Security, or his/her representative
      • Respond to suspicious, unusual, or emergency situations, using the appropriate escalation of force up to and including armed response, by following established protocols and polices
      • Respond in a calm demeanor for any/all emergency situations that may arise, i.e., bomb threats, medicals, deaths, domestic disturbance, and active assailants.
      • Will maintain proficiency in the use of all assigned protective equipment and firearms.
      • Will be required to use rapid and sound judgement in responding to unusual or emergency situations with appropriate escalation or de-escalation of force.
      • Will work in an environment and under conditions that require carrying authorized weapons and ammunition, the use of protective gear and devices, and awareness of personal safety and safety of others.
      • Must meet and continue to meet applicable training related to defensive handgun qualifications and tactical response.
      • Patrol the property on a continual basis to assess and observe potential threats or suspicious activity
      • At all times, the SRT officer will handle him/herself in a calm, professional and courteous manner when dealing with guests, team members, and visitors on the property.
      • Address any problem and/or incident on property and communicate with the supervisor during the tour of duty.
      • Be observant in all areas inside/outside of the hotel for safety concerns or suspicious circumstances.
      • Use good judgment, reason and a calm demeanor when approaching or responding to a critical incident.
      • In the event of an emergency or similar situation, take control and instruct fellow team members and guests as to the best course of action to take.
      • Complete investigations and subsequent reports by asking questions pertinent to the situation such as: who, what, when, where why, how, etc., in order to gather sufficient details to thoroughly satisfy investigation/report requirements. Use a computer report writing system to complete reports, and be able to follow through/up on any given report
      • Make constant contact with both guests and team members to provide excellent customer service. This includes contact with various hotel departments, in an effort to provide/obtain pertinent information needed for guest service, investigations, etc.
      • Liaison with and maintain professionalism with agencies such as, local law enforcement, EMS, State, and Federal agencies.
      • Must hold and maintain a State of Nevada CCW permit or Law Enforcement HR 218.

      QUALIFICATIONS

      To perform this job successfully, an individual must have a track record of performing each essential responsibility satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

      Must demonstrate ability to safely handle firearms and meet shooting qualification requirements.

      EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

      Any combination of education, training, or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Former military or law enforcement experience required.

      PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS AND OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

      Must be 21 years of age.

      Must complete a psychological evaluation, paid for by SAHARA Las Vegas, and accompanying interview, and pass with a satisfactory/passing score. Results will be forwarded to SAHARA Las Vegas Human Resources as pass/fail

      Must participate in and pass company paid pre-employment firearms qualification

      Must submit to and pass company paid drug screen test

      Must submit to company paid background check

      Must obtain and maintain a valid Alcohol Awareness

      Must pass Physical Agility Test consisting of a 100-yard dash – 30 second time limit, 150 LBS sandbag/dummy drag – 1 minute time limit, and 25 pushups. – 1 minute time limit. Initial and Annually.

      Must hold and maintain a State of Nevada CCW permit or Law Enforcement HR 218 (Check Box yes or no)

      Must have previous weapons handling experience.

      OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

      Complete and pass a TCCC (Tactical Combat Casualty Care) tactical response courses of the company’s choosing. Flexible to work all shifts including holidays, nights, and weekend hours as business needs dictate. Previous military or law enforcement experience is required. Effective time management and multi-tasking abilities are a must, a professional appearance is required.

      PHYSICAL DEMANDS

      The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

      While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to maintain physical stamina and proper mental attitude to work under pressure in a fast-paced, casino environment and effectively deal with customers, management, and others. May reach with hands and arms above shoulder level; bend/stoop, squat, balance, kneel, lift and push/pull. May be required to physically take someone into custody or place them under arrest. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 5 0 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance visions, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

      PHYSICAL AGILITY TEST

      • 100 METER DASH – under 30 seconds
      • 25 PUSH UPS – 1 minute time limit
      • 150 LBS body/dummy drag – 1 minute time limit

      LANGUAGE SKILLS

      Excellent communication skills both written and oral. Strong command of the English language. Must possess interpersonal skills to deal effectively with business contacts and employees at all levels of the company. Must possess a strong attention to detail and presentation skills. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, staff, customers, and general public

      REASONING ABILITY

      Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions through decisive judgment. Ability to interpret and follow through on a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
