- Performs various account reconciliations and monitoring
- Assist in month end and year-end financial close
- Grant and clinical trial support
- Analyze data to find trends and look for irregularities
- Gather data and prepare reports for management review
- Prepare and enter journal entries as required
- Create and update procedures
- Assist in annual budget process
- Prepare reports as required by annual audit
- Assist in all areas of the Accounting Department as needed
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance related field and 24 months experience in accounting
- Specific experience with reconciliations, account and general ledger analysis
- Familiarity with GAAP/Accounting principals
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Excel
- Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to multi-task
- Strong ability with attention to details
- Maintains consistent attendance
- Ability to exercise initiative, sound judgment and make independent decisions
- Ability to work independently
- Able to work with confidential information
- Knowledge of Microsoft Great Plains a necessity
Summary/Objective
The Staff Accountant prepares account reconciliations and other accounting services such as accounts payable, ad hoc reporting and allocations for both the Dean McGee Eye Institute and the Department of Ophthalmology. Assist in the administration of University policies, fiscal and budgetary affairs including accounting, purchasing, human resources, payroll and related areas.

Work Environment
This is an administrative job in a healthcare clinical setting. The Accountant primarily works in an office setting but may be required to walk to other areas of the clinic and may be exposed to contagious illnesses due to patient interactions. Physical Demands
Should be able to sit for long periods of time and work on a computer. Must have the ability to stand and operate a multifunction copy machine.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk of hear; and taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position working primarily daytime hours Monday through Friday; however, some evening and weekend work may be necessary on occasion.
